Taco Bell resurrects the Choco Taco with the Salt & Straw Churro Ice Cream Taco

The Choco Taco is back at Taco Bell. Kind of. The Salt & Straw Churro Ice Cream Taco, an elevated version of the classic dessert, went live at Taco Bell on Tuesday.

“Last year’s collaboration showed us how much joy there is in reimagining a nostalgic favorite, and we’re thrilled to work with Salt & Straw to bring a new ice cream taco to Taco Bell restaurants,” Liz Matthews, global chief food innovation officer at Taco Bell, said in the company’s announcement. “The Churro Ice Cream Taco builds on everything fans loved about the original collaboration, with a flavor that feels right at home on our menu.” (Read more)

Mountain Dew and Trolli are back at it with a new limited-edition soda

What a year it’s been for Snackology and Mountain Dew. We kicked things off with the return of Mountain Dew Baja Cabo Citrus in January. We were tempted by Dirty Mountain Dew Zero Sugar in the spring. We embraced our patriotism with the Mountain Dew America Variety Pack. We celebrated Baja Blast’s 22nd birthday with Mountain Dew Baja Leo Zero Sugar just a few weeks ago. And we even ranked the entire roster of Zero Sugar flavors that I had in my home.

The Mountain Dew news keeps coming, with Mountain Dew x Trolli Mango Pineapple Punch hitting stores as you read this review. (Read more)

McDonald’s Spicy Chicken McNuggets and Mighty Hot Sauce

Let’s spice things up with an early preview of McDonald’s Spicy Chicken McNuggets

A trip to the mall on Saturday led to an unexpected encounter with the new McDonald’s Spicy Chicken McNuggets.

Between getting fleeced at Claire’s (no Squishmallows were bought this trip, though) and getting fleeced at the Lindt Chocolate Shop, we popped over to the McDonald’s in the food court at the Pentagon City mall. The food court was blissfully free of school groups, which meant I had time to actually take my time at the McDonald’s kiosk.

Spicy Chicken McNuggets don’t make their official return until Sept. 1 ... but there they were, just waiting to be ordered. (Read more)

Burger King revamped its Chicken Nuggets. How long was too long to wait for them?

Remember back in 1998 when we somehow got dueling movies about space objects on course to collide with Earth and wipe out humanity? Well, that’s basically the same thing happening today with chicken nuggets.

For McDonald’s, Sept. 1 is the day when Spicy Chicken McNuggets officially return to menus. And for Burger King, today is the day the new BK Chicken Nuggets debut. (Read more)

If you love Pringles but wish they were EXTRA THICK, I have good news for you ...

Didn’t Snackology just review a handful of new Pringles flavors? you might be asking. That’s very observant of you, dedicated newsletter reader. You’re right. The newsletter did just cover two of the Pringles x Buffalo Wild Wings flavors. But the magicians over at the Pringles factory have been busy.

Will the world ever be the same now that Pringles Dippers are on their way? (Read more)

September has only just begun, so I’ll admit that it’s probably a touch too early to start talking about cookie season. But what if the cookies in question were the trio of treats that make up this year’s Pepperidge Farm Autumn Exclusives Collection?

This is autumn we’re talking about, not the holidays, so we’re not going to go crazy with another EIGHT-cookie lineup like we did last December. This edition of Snackology is going to focus on two returning Pepperidge Farm favorites, Pepperidge Farm Pumpkin Cheesecake and Milano Pumpkin Spice; in addition to a new cookie in the Autumn Exclusives Collection, Chessmen Spiced Orange Cranberry. Jeni’s Biscuits with the Boss

Do I believe in Ted Lasso and Jeni’s Biscuits with the Boss ice cream?

I have a theory that Ted Lasso never existed. The show was a collective hallucination that we all experienced together instead of unpacking the pandemic and historical events that surrounded it.

But, if that were the case, how can I explain the existence of Jeni’s Biscuits with the Boss, an ice cream flavor that’s back to celebrate the premiere of the show’s fourth season? (Read more)

Keep calm and eat some beans on toast

Snackology made the jump across the pond yesterday for Jeni’s Biscuits with the Boss ice cream, and in the spirt of Ted Lasso, we’re gonna hang out over there for another day and give the Bush’s Beans on Toast Kit a taste.

Yes, Snackology is trying beans on toast. (Read more)

This tub of King’s Hawaiian Soft Swirl Cinnamon Bites has already been devoured

I had missed the news bulletin that King’s Hawaiian Soft Swirl Cinnamon Bites were heading to grocery stores, so when I saw them on the King’s Hawaiian display during my weekly Harris Teeter trip, I had to ask myself if this was a new treat ... or had I somehow foolishly missed these fellas the entire time? Can you solve the Halloween mystery of SunnyD’s SpookyD?

Our daughter is a fan of SunnyD now, but she knows that the one place she can get a bottle is at the food truck at one of our favorite breweries. I wonder if when we likely stop by that brewery before Halloween, they’ll have SpookyD instead of the classic SunnyD. (Read more)

Food Finds: Gotta catch Krispy Kreme’s Pokémon donuts ... and a tub of King’s Hawaiian Cinnamon Bites

Does my grocery store have its entire supply of Pokémon Hershey’s Kisses in the clearance section? They do. But are they also hopeful that shoppers will pick up a box of six Pokémon Krispy Kreme donuts? They are. The Poké Ball works, but it doesn’t seem like a ton of creativity went into the other flavors. Hey, Darkwing Duck ... you still wanna get dangerous?

It’s been over five years since we last saw Darkwing Duck. After appearing in the series finale of the fantastic DuckTales reboot, the animated superhero disappeared from our screens. Before DuckTales ended, there was a report that Disney+ was working on a new Darkwing Duck series, with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg on board as executive producers.

It’s 2026, and there still isn’t a new Darkwing Duck show. (Read more)

Spider-Man: Brand New Day closes in on $900M; Coyote vs. Acme catapults to No. 2

We did it! Box office glory for Coyote vs. Acme!

OK, so maybe a $15.5 million opening weekend isn’t a box office number to go crazy over, but it’s $15.5 million more than Coyote vs. Acme would’ve debuted with had David Zaslav and Warner Bros. Discovery gotten their way and this wonderful film had been shelved forever in exchange for a tax write-off. (Read more)
