This is the third time I’ve sat down at the end of a season to figure out the proper ranking of the actors, singers and comedians who hosted the show. (No athletes this year.)
As always with these rankings, The Cold Open is looking at the hosts themselves, not the episode as a whole. It’s always possible to have an SNL host who recedes into the background while the show’s cast cranks things up to a higher gear. (Read more)
The latest edition of The Rundown debuted today, giving Jack Black a shot at picking the monologue for the perfect episode of SNL.
Black, who has plenty of experience giving a monologue now that he is a member of the Five-Timers Club, dug deep into the show’s history to choose which host should be given this prestigious honor ... (Read more)

Peanuts’ Lucy van Pelt was onto something when she asked Schroeder if Ludwig van Beethoven, his hero, had ever been featured on a bubblegum card. I mean, if you hadn’t been featured on a bubblegum card, had you really made it?
Lucy was on to something with that theory, a theory I think you can also apply to Oreo cookies. In 2026, have you really made it if you haven’t yet gotten your own Oreo flavor?
BTS, the superstar South Korean boy band, can now say they’ve officially made it. Oreo announced this week that Limited Edition Oreo & BTS Cookies, a new limited-edition flavor, is on the way. (Read more)

It’s been a while since I’ve overloaded our kitchen pantry with a wave of random new cereals. Who can forget back in January when I brought home Cocoa Loops, Froot Loops Glazed Blueberry Donut Holes, Confetti Cheerios, Cap’n Crunch’s Mystery Crunch, Strawberry Lucky Charms, Blue Raspberry Trix, Cinnamon Toast Crunch Peanut Butter and Reese’s Puffs Dark Chocolate? (Wait. Do I have a problem?)
My latest cereal haul is nowhere near as absurd as January’s stockpile, but it still includes three new takes on a handful of the world’s most iconic sugary cereals: Tropical Trix featuring Disney’s Moana Cereal, Lucky Charms Unicorn Cotton Candy Cereal and Froot Loops Wild-Berry. (Read more)
It’s impossible to walk down the aisles at the grocery store without seeing that that nearly every food category has joined the celebration of America’s 250th birthday. The only exceptions seem to be brands that are patriotically celebrating the World Cup ... or nonpatriotically celebrating the 30th anniversary of Pokémon.
Welch’s is in the first group, releasing this month a new, limited-edition flavor in its sparkling beverage lineup this month: Welch’s Sparkling Blueberry. (Read more)
Is there a more American way to celebrate the nation’s 250th birthday than with a new flavor of Doritos? (The chip was scientifically crafted to be so irresistible that someone wrote a book about the phenomenon.) I’ve been hunting for Doritos Ultimate Garlic Parm for a few weeks now, finally finding a bag on Target’s website a few days ago. (Read more)
While The Mandalorian and Grogu had lunch at Burger King, Minions & Monsters has found promotional partners that better represent two key elements of Minions lore. One, they’re yellow. And two, they love bananas.
So get ready to add French’s Minion Yellow Mustard and French’s Goomi’s Green Mustard along with King’s Hawaiian “Shake ’Em” Banana Bites to your shopping list. (Read more)

Disclosure Day was already incredibly high on my list of movies that I couldn’t wait to see in 2026. The final trailer for the film, which was released on Wednesday, only amped up that excitement. (You better believe I have my ticket already purchased for opening night.)
Disclosure Day has long felt like the culmination of Steven Spielberg’s alien-centric work. Close Encounters of the Third Kind, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, War of the Worlds — it’s all coming together in this film. And it sounds like Spielberg, who actually appears in this new trailer, is a true believer now.
“I used to say to myself, wouldn’t it be wonderful if all of this turned out to be true?” Spielberg said in the new trailer. “I’m now thinking, wouldn’t it be wonderful for people to know all of this is true?” (Read more)
Comparing the traditional three-day weekends for Star Wars movies, it looks like The Mandalorian and Grogu will have opened with the lowest first weekend of the Disney era. The film’s $82 million weekend would trail Solo’s $84.4 million. It also dramatically pales in comparison to The Force Awakens ($248 million), The Last Jedi ($220 million), The Rise of Skywalker ($177.4 million) and Rogue One ($155.1 million). (Read more)
