Review: Elevate your McDonald’s breakfast with the Honey Brown Butter Bacon Egg Cheese Biscuit

The addition of Caesar Sauce to the McDonald’s menu stole the spotlight this month — there were a bunch of signs and it was prominently featured on the ordering kiosks when we ate there over the weekend — but the restaurant has somewhat quietly rolled out a new breakfast item: The Honey Brown Butter Bacon Egg Cheese Biscuit.

McDonald’s calls this limited-edition biscuit “the perfect spin on the classic bacon egg and cheese, taking those ingredients and nestling them between two freshly baked biscuits with creamy, toasty Honey Brown Butter.”

The thoughts

As I mentioned when reviewing the Hot Honey Sausage Egg Biscuit back in January, I’ve long been a fan of the McDonald’s breakfast biscuit sandwiches. (I’m more likely, though, to order a McGriddle. They’re magical.)

While that sandwich was part of a complete Hot Honey lineup of items that included the Hot Honey McCrispy Sandwich, Bacon Hot Honey McCrispy Sandwich and Hot Honey Snack Wrap, the Honey Brown Butter Bacon Egg Cheese Biscuit is a standalone item.

This is an elevated Bacon Egg Cheese Biscuit. It has everything you (hopefully) love about the breakfast sandwich while also adding a touch of sweetness thanks to the Honey Brown Butter Sauce.

I just wish there was more of it.

There’s the option to amp up the Honey Brown Butter Sauce to “extra” if you want to customize your sandwich, but if you wanted to toss an additional cup or two of the Honey Brown Butter Sauce into your order, it looks like you’re out of luck. You can add a bag of McDonald’s ice to your order, but you can’t add more Honey Brown Butter.
