I usually save my yearly Slurpee for July 11 — which is obviously Slurpee Day — but I stopped by 7-Eleven on my way to work on Tuesday and happened to notice that my location had the limited-edition Mountain Dew Confetti Chill Slurpee ready to go.
7-Eleven says that this Slurpee flavor is “inspired by birthday cake with a citrusy twist,” promising a “bright citrus flavor with notes of sweet vanilla icing.”
I was pleasantly surprised to get an instant cake flavor upon my first sip. As I worked my way through the Slurpee, I did pick up a bit of a citrusy vibe. If the goal here was to deliver birthday cake in Slurpee form, this flavor was a success.
The chain is also advertising that you’ll be able to “enjoy the limited-time flavor in the commemorative 60th Anniversary Slurpee Day cups and top off the frozen beverage with pink, green and blue sugar crystals for an extra pop of color, sweetness and festive fun.” I didn’t see any of those items at my 7-Eleven, but maybe the store is saving them for July 11.
