Taco Bell and Tajín add plenty of tang to tacos, Cheesy Gordita Crunches ... and a Freeze?
The chile lime seasoning is a fun addition to the Tajín Taco and Tajín Cheesy Gordita Crunch. But I don’t think I want a tangy frozen dessert.

Taco Bell and Tajín have partnered to launch a limited-edition menu on Thursday full of chile lime seasoning-packed menu items: The Tajín Taco, Tajín Cheesy Gordita Crunch and Tajín Pineapple Strawberry Freeze.
“Taco Bell and Tajín have both inspired the kind of loyalty and enthusiasm that can only come from real fan connections,” Luis Restrepo, chief marketing officer at Taco Bell, said in the company’s announcement. “This collaboration is an opportunity to bring our brands’ worlds together in a way that's exciting, unexpected and rooted in what fans already love.”
While I’ve seen Tajín seasoning around the grocery store, it’s not something I’m familiar with. Taco Bell, though, I know pretty well. I was eager to see how well the chile lime seasoning went with Taco Bell classics like the standard taco and Gordita Crunch.

At my Taco Bell, the Tajín Taco was $2.99, Tajín Cheesy Gordita Crunch was $5.99 and a regular-size Tajín Pineapple Strawberry Freeze was $3.69.

In any journey through a limited-edition Taco Bell menu, the taco is always the best place to start. The Tajín Taco is more than your standard taco, though. Taking notes from the Doritos Locos Taco, this menu item has a Tajín-seasoned shell and goes beyond the standard beef, cheese and lettuce trio of fillings, adding Spicy Ranch sauce and mango salsa.

Both the Tajín Taco and the Tajín Cheesy Gordita Crunch come with a Tajín Clásico Seasoning packet, giving you the opportunity to amp up the “natural chiles, lime and sea salt” in each bite.
I generously sprinkled extra Tajín Clásico Seasoning. The Doritos Locos Taco is one of the most genius developments in the history of fast food, and applying that theory with Tajín Seasoning is super smart. If you enjoy the standard Taco Bell crunchy taco but are interested in elevating it, the Tajín Taco is what you’re looking for.

Speaking of elevating, what if you took the Tajín Taco and wrapped it in a soft tortilla and melted mozzarella, pepperjack and cheddar cheeses between the tortilla and seasoned shell? Well, that’s how Taco Bell’s Cheesy Gordita Crunch works — and you definitely won’t go wrong ordering this one.

If I’m ordering one of Taco Bell’s fancier taco offshoots, my go-to is a Chalupa. (I ate so many Chalupas in college.) But I won’t say no to a Cheesy Gordita Crunch. Like with the Tajín Taco, you can and should add extra Tajín Clásico Seasoning to this one.

I’m normally an easy mark when it comes to Taco Bell’s desserts and Freezes ... but the Tajín Pineapple Strawberry Freeze didn’t really work for me. I enjoyed the “tropical pineapple flavor with strawberry-flavored syrup,” but the addition of Tajín Seasoning gives this Freeze a tangy twist. That’s obviously what Taco Bell is going for here, but I’d much prefer a Confetti Cookie Freeze.
