1. A Minecraft Movie

Weekend gross: $80.6M
Total domestic gross: $281M
Last weekend: 1st
Percent drop: 50

There were two very clear sets of movies in the top five this week: A Minecraft Movie and a handful of new releases, with a massive gap between the two groups.

A Minecraft Movie easily held onto the No. 1 spot this weekend. The film’s $80.6 million haul was the sixteenth biggest second weekend in domestic box office history, squeezing between Incredibles 2 ($80.3 million) and Wicked ($81.2 million).

The video game adaptation jumps to the top of the 2025 domestic box office chart, effortlessly becoming the only movie so far this year to break $200 million in North America. (Captain America: Brave New World currently sits at $199,912,687.)

2. The King of Kings

Weekend gross: $19.1M
Total domestic gross: $19.1M
Last weekend: New release
Percent drop: NA

Just in time for Easter, the animated The King of Kings scored a pretty great $19.1 million opening weekend. Not bad for a film that’s based on a Charles Dickens story that the author didn’t want published during his life.
