ZOA Energy Shave Ice? You’re welcome!
The limited-edition summer flavor of Dwayne Johnson’s energy drink is inspired by the ‘nostalgic taste’ of Hawaiian shave ice.

Dwayne Johnson and I go back. I like to consider him a friend from the old days of Twitter. Seriously. Check out the time he quote-tweeted me.
A #Moana and #Baywatch double feature. That's a rainbow of stimulation. You're a well rounded lad. https://t.co/dSyBkqTFXP

OK, so calling Johnson a friend might be a bit of a stretch, but it was cool to have the voice of Maui comment on a silly joke I made on social media. It’s something I remembered as I gave the new ZOA Energy Shave Ice a taste.
In between making movies like The Smashing Machine, the live-action Moana remake and Fast Forever, Johnson also dabbles in energy drinks. As I’ve mentioned in previous editions of Snackology, I love an energy drink. But this was the first time I’ve had a ZOA Energy ...

A 12-pack of 12 oz. cans of ZOA Energy go for $24.99 on Amazon, where you can start buying Shave Ice beginning on May 18. (There’s also going to be limit distribution in Hawaii, if you’re lucky enough to be there.)

This limited-edition flavor of ZOA Energy is “inspired by the iconic Hawaiian treat and the brand’s Polynesian rootse” with a (very) blue raspberry taste. I know that the average person doesn’t pour an energy drink out into a glass, but if you want to fully experience the Shave Ice flavor, take a look at how blue it is. I’d believe that Johnson melted down a bunch of shave ice for this beverage.
This is my first experience with ZOA Energy, and I’m already a fan of how the energy drink — despite being sugar free with only 10 calories — doesn’t have the artificial taste that you sometimes get from zero sugar sodas that use alternative sweeteners.
Since this is a review of an energy drink, you’re probably wondering how much caffeine is in a can of ZOA Energy Shave Ice. You ready for this? A 12 oz. can of Shave Ice has a massive 160 mg of caffeine! That’s more caffeine than you’d get from a 16 oz. can of Monster Zero Ultra.
Excuse me while I go belt out “You’re Welcome” to burn off all this caffeine ...
ZOA Energy Shave Ice was provided to Snackology for this independent review.
