It turns out there’s a very vocal group of Pop-Tarts fans who love the toaster pastry ... but want more filling. The standard Pop-Tarts with their normal amount of filling just isn’t enough for these folks. I’m glad enough people made this quest their mission until Pop-Tarts finally gave them what they wanted, because now the world can enjoy Pop-Tarts Super Stuffed.
This new Pop-Tarts lineup boast 50 percent more filling than their normal counterparts. They’re beginning to hit stores this month, available in Pop-Tarts Super Stuffed Strawberry Blast, Pop-Tarts Super Stuffed Molten Lava Cake and Pop-Tarts Super Stuffed Cinnamon Caramel.
“Fans of Pop-Tarts have always loved our filling — so much so that they’ve spent years asking for more of it. Our all-new Pop-Tarts Super Stuffed toaster pastries deliver exactly that, while upgrading the snacking experience in a Crazy Good way,” Leslie Serro, vice president of marketing for Pop-Tarts, said in the company’s announcement. “Whether it’s a mid-afternoon reward or a late-night indulgence, it’s the ultimate treat bursting with more of what fans love to bring joy and comfort to any moment.”
Fifty percent more filling! That means way more strawberry-, fudge- and caramel-flavored filling in every foiled-wrapped Pop-Tarts Super Stuffed pastry that you tear into. As much as I’m excited to try these heftier Pop-Tarts, I’m even more excited to see what role they play in the next Pop-Tarts Bowl.

I haven’t seen a suggested retail price yet for the Pop-Tarts Super Stuffed lineup, but if you’re looking for Cinnamon Caramel, that one is a Walmart exclusive.

I figured that Pop-Tarts Super Stuffed Strawberry Blast was the correct place to start my tasting journey for this lineup. I’ve mentioned it before in previous Pop-Tarts coverage, but my Pop-Tarts story as a child began with the unfrosted Strawberry Pop-Tarts before moving onto Frosted Strawberry. If there ever was a baseline barometer for a Pop-Tarts flavor, it’s classic Frosted Strawberry.

Even before I opened my first Pop-Tarts Super Stuffed, several things immediately stood out to me. First, you get one Super Stuffed per foil package. I guess a Pop-Tart with 50 percent more filling is enough to satisfy your hunger, and you don’t need a second one inside each package.
Two, Pop-Tarts Super Stuffed don’t have the same structural integrity that you’d expect from a traditional Pop-Tart. Each foil package that I opened up had a Pop-Tart Super Stuffed that could barely hold itself together. That extra filling absolutely makes a difference.

But when it came to taste, those broken pieces didn’t matter at all. Everything people love about a Frosted Strawberry Pop-Tart is present in the Strawberry Blast version. That extra 50 percent more filling is the perfect amount to dial up the strawberry flavor so that it doesn’t get drowned out by the pastry itself.
I hope the Super Stuffed initiative is successful, since I’d love to see the Wild Berry Pop-Tarts get this treatment.

After starting with Strawberry Blast, I zigged hard into the dessert Pop-Tarts zone with Pop-Tarts Super Stuffed Molten Lava Cake. The non-fruit Pop-Tarts can be hit or miss. For every classic like S’mores, you sometimes get a Girl Scouts Frosted Thin Mints Pop-Tarts where the filling can’t hold its own against the pastry.
That’s not a problem with Molten Lava Cake.

Like Strawberry Blast, this Pop-Tarts Super Stuffed pastry was barely holding it together when I took it out of its wrapper. That “extra-generous dose of fudgy filling” lives up to its promise.

I have zero complaints about Pop-Tarts Super Stuffed Molten Lava Cake. If anything, it’s going to make going back to pretty much any non-fruit standard Pop-Tart flavor difficult.

While the first two flavors of this new lineup were Team Sprinkles, Team Swirls is represented by Pop-Tarts Super Stuffed Cinnamon Caramel. This Walmart exclusive was also bursting at the seams (do Pop-Tarts have seams?), with its “indulgent, gooey cinnamon caramel-flavored filling” compromising the pastry as I did my best to remove it from its foil wrapper.

While Cinnamon Caramel easily lived up to the promise of the Super Stuffed expansion, the flavor didn’t land with me on the same level as Strawberry Blast and Molten Lava Cake. I have to confess that despite Frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pop-Tarts being a beloved flavor, they’ve never been my go-to option.

If there’s a world where I can choose from a super fruity strawberry Pop-Tart or a wildly chocolate Pop-Tart, those two flavors are going to easily be my pick over anything else.

Pop-Tarts Super Stuffed Strawberry Blast, Pop-Tarts Super Stuffed Molten Lava Cake and Pop-Tarts Super Stuffed Cinnamon Caramel were provided to Snackology for this independent review.
