Wonder is more than just bread. It’s cupcakes and donuts. And also bread.
Let’s dive into a ridiculous haul from the company that was once synonymous with white bread.
Let’s dive into a ridiculous haul from the company that was once synonymous with white bread.
When you think of Wonder, you probably think of white bread. That white bag marked in primary colors is an iconic bit of American food. There’s white bread. And then there’s Wonder bread.
But did you know that Wonder vastly expanded its offerings last year? The bakery jumped into the world of cupcakes, mini donuts and honey buns in March 2025.
“For generations, Wonder bread has been a staple in American households, bringing families together over meals and memories,” Ashley Hornsby, Wonder’s director of brand management, said in the company’s announcement of its expansion. “With the launch of our new treats, we’re excited to bring that same sense of nostalgia and joy to a new category, giving consumers a delicious way to enjoy Wonder beyond the bread aisle.”
It shouldn’t surprise anyone that I gave a few of Wonder’s cupcakes a try the instant I found them in my grocery store last year, picking up boxes of Creme Filled Chocolate Cupcakes and Creme Filled Confetti Cakes. (I’d also later pick up a box of Wonder Banana Creme Cakes when they debuted.)
I was thrilled when a box of Wonder products showed up at my house, delivering a haul that included Wonder Creme Filled Chocolate Cupcakes, Wonder Creme Filled Peanut Butter Cupcakes, Wonder Triple Chocolate Cakes, Wonder Pumpkin Spice Mini Donuts and Wonder Brownie Crunch Mini Donuts.
Oh. And a loaf of Wonder Classic White bread.
Yes, you better believe Snackology is going to review Wonder white bread.

Walmart sells Wonder’s cupcakes for $3.69 a box, the mini donuts for $2.68 a bag and the white bread for $2.47 a loaf.

As I mentioned before, the Creme Filled Chocolate Cupcakes were part of the first wave of Wonder’s expanded products that I bought last year. If you’re launching a lineup of baked goods, a chocolate cupcake filled with creme is a great place to start.

Let’s address the elephant in the room here. Is this better than the classic Hostess cupcake? I’d say that Wonder’s version is slightly drier, but the sprinkles on each cupcake — in Wonder’s signature color scheme! — add a nice crunch to these cupcakes.

Chocolate and peanut butter. What a combo. (You can also add jelly, if you want to make things interesting.) The Wonder Creme Filled Peanut Butter Cupcake swaps out the classic creme filling and chocolate frosting for peanut butter creme and icing.

This is a heavier cupcake than the standard Creme Filled Cupcake. I don’t want to say that the peanut butter overpowers the chocolate — that would make it sound like this flavor dynamic is a negative thing — but this is a peanut buttery cupcake.

OK, so technically this one isn’t a cupcake. It’s just a cake. The major difference here is that instead of just topping these treats with icing, the Wonder Triple Chocolate Cakes are fully encased by chocolate icing.
I love these.
As someone who can easily house a sleeve of chocolate-covered mini donuts, I’m a huge fan of bringing that treatment to these not-cupcakes.

Wonder's Confetti Cakes get this same treatment, only with non-chocolate icing. I’d love to take everything that makes the Wonder Triple Chocolate Cakes a hit but swap out the chocolate creme for regular creme.

Mini donuts are my go-to snack for any kind of morning car trip. If I didn’t have the chance to eat an actual breakfast, I’ll buy a sleeve of mini donuts. Or a bag of mini donuts. Fine, fine, I’ll even buy mini donuts if I’ve had an actual breakfast.
I’ve been eyeing the Wonder lineup of mini donuts in the grocery store since they debuted last year, but thanks to my supreme willpower, I’ve yet to purchase them.
Thanks to this taste test, that willpower is shot.

The Pumpkin Spice Mini Donuts are Wonder’s seasonal offering, covering a pumpkin mini donut in cinnamon-y spice powder. Wow, these are fantastic. I know that Snackology has been on an anti-pumpkin spice kick the past few weeks, but these mini donuts might be the gold standard for the genre. I would choose them over Dunkin’s pumpkin donuts.

The Wonder Brownie Crunch Mini Donuts are the flavor that’s tempted me every time I’ve passed the Wonder display at my grocery store. Mini donuts? Already on board. But then you’re going to coat them in a crunchy chocolate topping? Get out of here.

There's a bit of crystallized sugar mixed in with the chocolate coating, helping to really deliver on the promise of CRUNCH. This won’t be the last time I devour a bag of Wonder Brownie Crunch Mini Donuts.

It’s Wonder Classic White bread.

It’s soft. It’s squishy. You can make a killer peanut butter-and-jelly sandwich with it.
