I tried the revamped McDonald’s McCrispy Strips. Or, at least I’m pretty sure I did.
When the chain rolled out McCrispy Strips last year, some fans wished they were closer to the discontinued Chicken Strips.

When McDonald’s introduced McCrispy Strips last May, it was a huge deal. A massive deal. McDonald’s fans rejoiced over the return of chicken strips to the chain’s menu for the first time since Chicken Selects disappeared.
But some diehard Chicken Selects fans weren’t sold on the new McCrispy Strips. Jake, my youngest brother, was one of those people. After trying them once, he swore to never again get chicken strips at McDonald’s until they were truly what was lost in the absence of Chicken Selects.
McDonald’s quietly rolled out a revamped version of McCrispy Strips this month, noting on their website that they’re “now crispier.” Would that do the trick?

I paid $6.49 for a 4-piece of McCrispy Strips, which included two sauces.

“Can confirm the new McCrispy Strip is more like a Chicken Select,” Jake texted this week. “More flavor to it too. It’s not quite as much breading, but it’s better.”
I swung by McDonald’s on our way home from running errands on Friday. (My daughter wanted one last shot at a Squishmallow Happy Meal. She got a second one of the World Cup eagle mascots.) It was time to taste the revamped McCrispy Strips myself.
And ... I think I did?
I honestly can’t tell. Comparing photos from Snackology’s May 2025 review of the chicken strips and photos from this taste test, I’m really not sure. My assumption is that every McDonald’s location would have the new version of McCrispy Strips, but this is the same location that only had three different Squishmallows available when my daughter and I went there a few weeks back.
Let’s assume this is the revamped McCrispy Strip. As my brother texted me, the breading could be heavier. Flavor-wise, these chicken strips are well seasoned and they’ll absolutely do the job when it comes to dunking them in some Big Mac Sauce.
I enjoyed McCrispy Strips when they debuted last year, giving them a “buy” rating before the modern Snack Score was introduced. And assuming I actually tried the revamped version today, I approve of the changes McDonald’s made to them.

Friday is also National French Fry Day, and McDonald’s is giving out a free medium fries with any order. I’m gonna assume you’ve all eaten McDonald’s Fries before and don’t need me to review them.
