I collected all the Pokémon Pop-Tarts. (There was just one flavor.)
A quick review of Pop-Tarts Pokémon Frosted Vanilla Cupcake, the limited-edition flavor celebrating the franchise’s 30th anniversary.
There are so many seeds and grains in these bagels. Like, so many. All the seeds and grains you need to start your day.
I’ve found myself eating fewer sandwiches over the past year or so. It’s probably shocking to believe that the author of a newsletter about snacks has ever made any health changes in his life, but it does happen.
When I do have a sandwich or some toast these days, the bread I’m using is most likely Dave’s Killer Bread Powerseed Bread. (Yes, I know there are two mentions of “bread” in that name.) I like all those seeds, and Dave’s Killer Bread has yet to let me down when it comes to delivering a, well, killer slice of bread.
The company also dabbles in bagels, and announced at the end of April that they’re rolling out two of their popular flavors as mini bagels and adding a new flavor of full-sized bagel in Dave’s Killer Bread Plain Awesome Mini Bagels, Dave’s Killer Bread Epic Everything Mini Bagels and Dave’s Killer Bread Summer Berry Bagels.
“DKB Mini Bagels are the perfect option for snacking, on-the-go and fun-sized meals for the whole family,” Cristina Watson, senior director of brand management for Dave’s Killer Bread, said in the company’s announcement. “BreadHeads will love using Mini Bagels to make everything from sandwiches to pizza bagels. While their size is mini, their taste is anything but.”
OK, right after this review I’m heading to the store to buy the ingredients for pizza bagels ...

If you’re going to select a couple flavors to launch a line of mini bagels, there’s no better place to start than with plain and everything bagel. (I’d also include sesame, but Dave’s Killer Bread doesn’t sell a sesame bagel.) I’ve never had any of the company’s bagels, so all of these flavors and styles were new to me.
Dave’s Killer Bread Plain Awesome Mini Bagels are very good plain bagels. A plain bagel feels simple, but a lot can potentially go wrong. The mini bagels have a good chew to them, and the plain flavor still delivers the grains you expect from Dave’s Killer Bread. (In this case, Plain Awesome Mini Bagels are full of quinoa, spelt, rye, millet and barely. Mmmmm, millet.)

An everything bagel is a dangerous proposition. (Especially if you mix its vibes with macaroni and cheese.) It’s a flavor combo that can absolutely demolish your quality of life for the rest of the day — but you choose to eat one because of that very flavor combo.
I love Dave’s Killer Bread Epic Everything Mini Bagels because that smaller size minimizes your exposure to that combo of seasoning. Oh, and that seasoning? The company put their own spin on the everything bagel mix, going with flax, chia, quinoa, poppy, garlic and onion. This is the perfect marriage of an everything bagel and the healthy approach you expect from Dave’s Killer Bread.

While my go-to bagel flavor would be an egg bagel, I grew up in a household where blueberry and cinnamon raisin bagels were king. Dave’s Killer Bread Summer Berry Bagels elevates the former, putting blueberries, raspberries, cranberries and strawberries into a full-sized bagel. (Dave’s Killer Bread also makes a Cinnamon Raisin Remix bagel, which I’ll have to track down after I eat my way through all these bagels.)
This flavor has just the right level of sweetness. If you love a blueberry bagel, the Summer Berry Bagels should hit that same level of fruitiness. They’re not super sweet, but you do occasionally get a full berry in the mix. (I found the cranberries to be a nice touch.)
