Should you buy the Tostitos Chunky Guacamole dip?

In addition to the refrigerated guac, Tostitos is also rolling out Spicy Queso Blanco Flavored Tortilla Chips and Limited-Edition NFL Team Bags.

Legally, there are three main food groups that you can dip your tortilla chips in: Salsa, queso and guacamole. (Yes, there are obviously other things you can eat with a tortilla chip, but there’s no way Congress is ever going to get around to sorting this out.) Tostitos has long been a dominant force when it comes to salsa and queso, making glass jars of both available in the chips aisle.

They’re now jumping into the world of guac with Tostitos Chunky Guacamole. Don’t expect to find this new guacamole in the chip aisle, though. Your search will have to get ... cooler.

“Tostitos has always been about bringing people together,” PepsiCo Foods CEO Rachel Ferdinando said in the announcement that Tostitos Chunky Guacamole can be found in the refrigerated aisle. “What we’re rethinking now is where — and how — that happens.”

In addition to introducing its own guacamole, Tostitos is also rolling out Tostitos Spicy Queso Blanco Flavored Tortilla Chips and bringing back its Limited-Edition NFL Team Bags just in time for the kickoff of the 2026 football season.

“Our new limited time offering, Spicy Queso Blanco, flavor puts a bold spin on the iconic chips-and-queso pairing,” PepsiCo Foods senior vice president Denise Truelove said in the company’s press release. “Alongside the launch of Tostitos Chunky Guacamole and the return of our NFL Team Bags, we’re giving fans even more ways to gather, celebrate gameday traditions and enjoy football season together.”

Since I definitely didn’t eat enough snacks while we were in the Outer Banks last week, this is the perfect time for me to try this entire new Tostitos lineup and report back to Snackology readers.

My thoughts

For this edition of the newsletter, I’m skipping the Limited-Edition NFL Team Bag. The design of these bags “brings team pride to life” while containing your standard restaurant-style Tostitos tortilla chips. Living in the DC area, I’m sure my grocery store will be well-stocked with Washington Commanders bags. I’m holding out hope that a few Buffalo Bills bags sneak their way into stores.

Tostitos Chunky Guacamole

When it comes to making snacks for a party, I have two go-to options that are always a hit: My own guacamole and a Buffalo chicken dip. Making guac is a process. You gotta dice and mash the avocado. Tomatoes, jalapeño and red onion need to be cut up. Maybe there’s some cilantro involved. There’s definitely a handful of limes getting squeezed into the final mix.

Buying premade guacamole feels like cheating.

But sometimes you want guacamole, and you don’t have time for the entire process of making it yourself. Maybe you don’t have access to those ingredients. Or maybe you’ve been struck with a sudden craving for guac.

I’m not going to judge. I just want to make sure the premade guacamole is a tasty option under this scenario.

I was impressed that Tostitos Chunky Guacamole wasn’t just a green blob. PepsiCo boasts that it “[starts] with fresh Hass avocados, and [has] onions, tomatoes, jalapeño peppers and [is] finished with a hint of lime flavor.” These ingredients are visibly present in the guac.

For a premade guacamole, Tostitos Chunky Guacamole is a solid replacement for the homemade option. Unless you plan on putting peas in your homemade guac. Then you should definitely go with the Tostitos version. (I’d absolutely choose this dip over Tostitos Avocado Salsa.)

I also happened to be drinking a Pepsi Prebiotic Cola while doing this taste test, and I can endorse the combo of the two snacks.

My favorite style of Tostitos to pair with guacamole is Scoops Multigrain, but I also gave Tostitos Spicy Queso Blanco Flavored Tortilla Chips a shot since PepsiCo introduced them at the same time as Tostitos Chunky Guacamole.

This limited-edition Tostitos variety is supposed to evoke the flavors of queso blanco, “blending zesty queso cheese flavor with vibrant peppers and spices for a rich and vibrant taste experience.” (Something tells me they were going for a vibrant flavor.)

Tostitos Spicy Queso Blanco Flavored Tortilla Chips are good. I found myself absentmindedly snacking on them as I wrote this review. They could be cheesier, though. And they could be spicier. If you want a true “iconic chips-and-queso pairing” experience, you’ll be better served by a bag of normal Tostitos and a jar of the brand’s Queso Blanco dip.

Or just grab a bag of Xochitl Nacho Tortilla Chips.
