Snackologymade the jump across the pond yesterday for Jeni’s Biscuits with the Boss ice cream, and in the spirt of Ted Lasso, we’re gonna hang out over there for another day and give the Bush’s Beans on Toast Kit a taste.
Yes, Snackology is trying beans on toast.
“When you’re as obsessed with beans as we are, one of the world’s most iconic bean dishes has been on the radar for a while,” Dena vonWerssowetz, vice president of marketing at Bush’s, said in the company’s announcement. “Beans on toast has been a British staple for generations, and we loved the idea of giving Americans an easy way to discover why it’s stood the test of time.”

The Bush’s Beans on Toast Kit comes with a can of baked beans, two slices of bread that were somehow shelf stable enough to make the shipping journey ... and a “toast-inspired soccer jersey.”
This shouldn’t come as a surprise, but I’ve never had beans on toast. Honestly, though? Not bad. These were your standard Bush’s Beans, so I didn’t have to worry about navigating Dill Pickle or Rocket Pop flavors on toast.
It’s hard to go wrong with a slice of toast, and despite my questions about how these two slices of bread made their way to me through various shipping channels, I managed to not burn either of them in my toaster.
Getting the toast correct was key, since your toast needs to be able to hold up after you burden it with baked beans and lift it up for a bite.
I don’t think I’m going to start making beans on toast at home. If any food company wants to make the eggy in a basket from V for Vendetta a kit, I would happily give that a try.
