Coke Zero Cherry Float gives the classic soda a throwback twist
You’ve had a cherry vanilla cola. But have you ever had ‘the taste of a Cherry Coke float’ in a can?
You’ve had a cherry vanilla cola. But have you ever had ‘the taste of a Cherry Coke float’ in a can?
I drink a ton of Coke Zero. I’d say too much Coke Zero, but there’s never been any scientific data that shows that drinking too much Coke Zero was bad for you. (Don’t fact check me on this. Snackology isn’t legally responsible for any scientific claims.) For a touch of variety every so often, I’ll mix in one of the variants of Coke Zero.
We currently have Coke Zero Cherry and a few cans left of Coke Zero Holiday Creamy Vanilla hanging around our home. (I’ll miss you, Holiday Creamy Vanilla when you’re gone.) The list of other kinds of Coke Zero that I’ve tried (and hopefully enjoyed) could go on and on. Coke Zero Vanilla. Coke Zero Cherry Vanilla. Coke Zero Orange Cream. Coke Zero Oreo.
So it goes without saying that I was super excited when leaks of Coca-Cola Zero Sugar Cherry Float started popping up on social media a few months ago. Coke made this new flavor official this month, sending regular and Zero Sugar versions of Cherry Float in addition to the return of Diet Coke Cherry to store shelves.

Before sales, a 12-pack of Coke Zero Cherry Float cans was $11.99 at Harris Teeter.
Like many of these new flavors of Coke and Coke Zero, you can learn a bit more about just what the soda giant was aiming for with Cherry Float thanks to the smaller type on the cases. At its core, Coke Zero Cherry Float is “cherry vanilla flavored.” But it’s not exactly the same as previous cherry vanilla Cokes.
“Leading the expansion is Coca‑Cola Cherry Float, a new flavor experience inspired by the classic soda fountain treat,” the company writes of the new flavor. “Crafted to deliver the taste of a Cherry Coke float — without ice cream or dairy — the beverage blends Coca‑Cola Cherry with smooth, creamy vanilla notes for a familiar yet new profile.”

Like with Coke Zero Holiday Creamy Vanilla, the secret to Coke Zero Cherry Float tastes like the company turned up the dial on the “vanilla” part of the “cherry vanilla” equation in order to really nail “the taste of a Cherry Coke float — without ice cream or dairy.” It’s also not gimmicky like A&W Ice Cream Sundae soda.
Coke Zero Cherry Float is a welcome addition to the Coke Zero family, and I look forward to it finding a home on our soda shelves as I finish off my final few cans of Coke Zero Holiday Creamy Vanilla.
