The Oreo Thanksgiving Dinner Cookie Tin is here to ruin your holidays

A Turkey & Stuffing Oreo cookie is an abomination to all that is holy and snacky.

The Oreo Thanksgiving Dinner Cookie Tin is here to ruin your holidays

There are many ways you can ruin Thanksgiving. You could argue about politics with your family. You could fail to properly defrost your turkey after inviting your cat’s vet over for a big dinner date. Or you could serve your guests Oreo Thanksgiving Dinner Cookie Tin.

Over here at Snackology, I’ve covered more than a dozen new and returning Oreo flavors. There have been Oreos with Oreo bits in them, Oreos that are supposed to taste like Coke Zero, Oreos endorsed by celebrities like Post Malone and Selena Gomez. But I’ve never covered a batch of Oreo flavors like the ones that come in Oreo Thanksgiving Dinner Cookie Tin.

Oreo released this Oreo Thanksgiving Dinner Cookie Tin right at the end of October, with the first wave of shipments reaching eager fans last week. According to the Oreo website, the cookie tin “is not your typical OREO indulgence, it’s a chance to try something unforgettable and help shape the future of flavor innovation.”

There are six flavors in the Oreo Thanksgiving Dinner Cookie Tin: Creamed Corn, Cranberry Sauce, Sweet Potato, Turkey & Stuffing, Pumpkin Pie and Caramel Apple. Seriously. Like Taco Bell’s Mountain Dew Baja Blast Pie, this is absolutely real. The cookie tin comes with two versions of each flavor. Unlike pretty much every other new Oreo release, these flavors come from the “chocolatey coating” that surrounds a standard Oreo cookie.

Since launching Snackology in September 2024 and across more than 100 editions of this newsletter, I’ve yet to run across a snack, candy or soda that really made me question why I was doing this. But the Oreo Thanksgiving Dinner Cookie Tin almost broke me …

What it costs

While it was available, the Oreo Thanksgiving Dinner Cookie Tin was $19.99. For that price, you got a dozen cookies plus a tin that “makes a great nostalgic keepsake or addition to your Thanksgiving festivities.”

My thoughts

Upon opening the tin, I was instantly hit with a mixture of scents. Apple. Other hints of fruit. Wax. Something more ominous …

Visually, the six different varieties of cookie that come in the Oreo Thanksgiving Dinner Cookie Tin are very pretty. Oreo spared no expense when it came to creating a festively fall color palette here.

But that’s not why I bought the Oreo Thanksgiving Dinner Cookie Tin. I bought it to let the world know what it was like to eat an, um, Turkey & Stuffing-flavored Oreo cookie. I bought it because Oreo issued the challenge of trying “six unique Thanksgiving-inspired flavors that invite fans to join a bold taste journey.” I bought it for the fans. For the kids. For all of you who click open each addition of Snackology.

Creamed Corn

Creamed Corn was my first stop on the journey through the Oreo Thanksgiving Dinner Cookie Tin. The fudge frosting on this flavor was yellow with a yellow drizzle. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this one. I love corn bread. I’ve enjoyed corn ice cream. But I had to power through my first bite of a Creamed Corn Oreo. It wasn’t bad after a few chews, but it wasn’t great either.

Cranberry Sauce

Cranberry Sauce was next on the list. My expectations were the highest for the two fruit-flavored options in the cookie tin, and Cranberry Sauce, with its red fudge and red drizzle, didn’t disappoint. It was bright, fruity and fun, offering a bit of tang. I’d definitely eat this one again.

Sweet Potato

This one was another mystery to me. Sweet potato fries have become a standard option across all kinds of restaurants, but how would the flavor work as an Oreo fudge coating? The answer? This orange Oreo with brown drizzle didn’t work. It was a bit bland, barely better than the Creamed Corn flavor.

Turkey & Stuffing

I was dreading the Turkey & Stuffing offering from the Oreo Thanksgiving Dinner Cookie Tin. It’s one thing to cover an Oreo cookie in pumpkin- or cranberry-flavored fudge, but turkey and stuffing? This one was extra deceptive, since the colors of its fudge coating invoked chocolate … but it smelled strongly of poultry-based gravy.

The Turkey & Stuffing Oreo is an abomination. An affront to all that is holy and decent. It made me question all of my life choices that had led to the moment I placed it in my mouth. I pondered, for a second, throwing up. This cookie is a crime against cookies.

Pumpkin Pie

Well, moving on. Next up was Pumpkin Pie, with its bright orange coating and white drizzle. This cookie tastes like a Pumpkin Spice Latte smells. After the Turkey & Gravy disaster, the balance on this one was pretty good.

Caramel Apple

I ended my Oreo Thanksgiving Dinner Cookie Tin experience on a high note with the Caramel Apple cookie. Like with the Cranberry Sauce cookie, the fruitiness of Caramel Apple fudge was a welcome pairing with the classic Oreo cookie.

Snack score

🍪 (1 out of 5 cookies)

Look, I’m pretty open to reviewing some wild stuff for this newsletter. I’ve been harsh on some foods, like the everything bagel flavor of Kraft Mac & Cheese last year, but I’ve never encountered something as disgusting as the Turkey & Stuffing cookie in the Oreo Thanksgiving Dinner Cookie Tin. It’s an irredeemable cookie, and it drags down every other cookie in this collection.
