KFC Colonel’s Favorite Jellybeans are Easter nightmare fuel
If these are Colonel Sanders’ favorite jellybeans, I’d hate to taste the jellybeans he hates.
The secret to doing ‘The Muppet Show’ turns out to be just doing ‘The Muppet Show.’ PLUS: Disney picks a guy not named ‘Bob’ to be its next CEO, and trailers for ‘Devil Wears Prada,’ ‘Monarch’ and ‘Your Friends & Neighbors.’
Hey there, Popculturology buds. Welcome to the Friday edition of the newsletter.
We’re heading into Super Bowl weekend, which likely means a bunch of new trailers are on the way. (I’ve heard that we shouldn’t expect anything for the MCU, though.) Amazon MGM Studios is already teasing the final trailer for Project Hail Mary, a film I can’t wait to finally see in theaters.
Project Hail Mary also joined KPop Demon Hunters this week as movies that are getting the Lego treatment. You’ll be able to add a Ryan Gosling minifig to your collection next month, but those KPop Demon Hunters sets are still a year away.
Big news over here at The Omnicosm this week. Deep SNL Thoughts, home of the site’s SNL coverage, is now The Cold Open. Same SNL coverage. Hopefully better name.

If you’ve been a Popculturology reader for long enough, you’ve heard me begging Disney to show the Muppets some respect. One of the most iconic pop culture franchises, and the studio has yet to be able to figure out how to make it work in today’s world.
There was the ABC series that gave the Muppets The Office treatment. There was Jason Segel’s The Muppets, a movie I love but I understand isn’t universally accepted by fans of the characters. In a world where studios are desperate to find reliable and lucrative properties, why hadn’t Disney been able to make the Muppets work?
Well, it turns out, if you want to recapture the success of The Muppet Show, you just have to do The Muppet Show.
