1. Avengers: Endgame
Weekend gross: $26M Total domestic gross: $884.4M Last weekend: Re-release Percent drop: NA
The last time Avengers: Endgame was atop the box office was the weekend of May 10, 2019. The culmination of the Infinity Saga had notched a $63.3 million third weekend, bringing its domestic total at that point to $723.7 million. Endgame’s original North American box office run settled at $858.4 million.
Popculturology was on a hiatus when Avengers: Endgame started its box office run with a then-record $357.1 million opening weekend, so it’s fun to wind up having a chance to write about the film in 2026 thanks to the release of Avengers: Endgame Encore.
Between a $26 million weekend for Endgame Encore and Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s record opening weekend of $360.1 million and a domestic haul that’s now crossed $950 million, things are looking good when it comes to the box office for the MCU and Avengers: Doomsday’s December release. 2. Resident Evil
Weekend gross: $23.3M Total domestic gross: $103.5M Last weekend: 1st Percent drop: 61
After outgrossing the individual domestic hauls for every Resident Evil movie last weekend, director Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil followed up that accomplishment by becoming the franchise’s first movie to break the $100 million barrier in North America.
The latest Resident Evil movie now has a shot at passing Weapons’s $151.6 million domestic total to become Cregger’s biggest hit.

David Ayer and Brad Pitt are back together, joining Avengers: Endgame and Resident Evil in the $20 million club this weekend. Heart of the Beast’s $20 million opening weekend is a few million behind the $23.7 million that Fury debuted with back in October 2014.
4. Primetime
Weekend gross: $19.2M Total domestic gross: $19.2M Last weekend: New release Percent drop: NA
Primetime came very close to joining the three films above it in the $20 million club. The acclaimed Robert Pattinson film was playing in considerably fewer theaters than the competition — 2,874 for Primetime versus 3,435 for Heart of the Beast and 3,684 for Resident Evil — which makes Primetime keeping up with those films even more impressive.
5. Forgotten Island
Weekend gross: $12.8M Total domestic gross: $12.8M Last weekend: New release Percent drop: NA
Critics and fans both seem to like Forgotten Island. Over at Rotten Tomatoes, the animated film has a 95 percent critics score and a 96 percent audience score. That buzz didn’t translate into box office success, though, with Forgotten Island grossing just $12.8 million over its opening weekend.
