Are Confetti Cheerios going to throw a party in your mouth?
General Mills is kicking off the new year with a fun-filled new take on Frosted Cheerios.

There’s something about chowing down on a bowl of Cheerios. It doesn’t matter if it’s the classic standard that comes in the yellow box or the equally iconic Honey Nut Cheerios, Cheerios have been a go-to breakfast staple for 85 years for a reason. If you enjoyed them as a kid, you’re probably still going to enjoy a bowl in adulthood.
While some of us grew up before the explosion of new Cheerios flavors (I remember when they introduced Team USA Cheerios for the 1996 Olympics and Millennios to celebrate the year 2000), the cereal aisle is filled with variations on the classic Cheerios shape — chocolate, fruity, protein and more. With all those new options, it’s hard to get excited about a new Cheerios release.
But then I saw that Confetti Cheerios were heading our way in 2026.

I paid $4.93 for a 19 oz. box of Confetti Cheerios at Walmart.

General Mills describes Confetti Cheerios as “vanilla flavored sweetened whole grain oats mixed with playful rainbow sprinkles.” At first glance, the new cereal appears to be Frosted Cheerios only with those “playful rainbow sprinkles” livening things up.
But there’s something more to Confetti Cheerios. There’s a twist that sets them apart from Frosted Cheerios. They’re sweeter, but not too much sweeter. They’re much closer to the cereal you find in Lucky Charms (not the marshmallow bits) but with less of that cardboard-y taste that you sometimes get with those fellas.
Confetti Cheerios are a welcome addition to the Cheerios lineup. I’d choose them over regular Frosted Cheerios now that they’re an option.
