TThere’s no shortage of candy that can be considered iconic. But is there a candy that comes with as much personality as Peeps?
While M&M’s have their own roster of mascots and Nerds Gummy Clusters even have an anthropomorphic, um, cluster, every time you open a package of Peeps, you’re greeted by a group of beady little eyes.
Do those eyes stare into your soul as you contemplate which chick or bunny will be first to be devoured and in what way? (For me, it’s head first for chicks, body first for bunnies.) Peeps are playful in a way those most other candies aren’t, even inspiring the decades-long Peeps diorama contest at the Washington Post.
Peeps may have originated as an Easter candy, but they’ve branched out beyond that holiday, finding ways to stick around all year. You can get ghosts and pumpkins at Halloween and gingerbread folks and trees at Christmas. But that doesn’t mean that Easter isn’t the season of Peeps.
To celebrate that season, we’re getting three new flavors of Peeps this year: Peeps SunnyD Flavored Marshmallow Chicks, Peeps Pop-Tarts Frosted Strawberry Flavored Marshmallow Chicks and Peeps Chili Lime Mango Flavored Marshmallow Chicks.
“There’s nothing quite like the joy Peeps bring to Easter, and each year, we’re always inspired by the creativity and passion fans bring to the season,” Peeps brand manager Caitlin Servian said. “Blending flavor innovation and playful partnerships, along with the iconic Chicks and Bunnies fans look forward to each year, the 2026 Easter collection is designed to inspire connection and transform ordinary moments into a celebration.”
If someone goes to work and focuses on Peeps innovation, it’s my duty to test these new flavors out.

I haven’t seen prices for this trio of new Peeps, but I’m guessing they should be in line with normal Peeps pricing. The Pop-Tarts and Chili Lime Mango flavors come in 10-packs while the SunnyD flavor comes in a 15-pack.

All three new Peeps flavors come only in chick form. (I’m sorry, bunny fans, but you’re either going to have to adjust or make do with the classic marshmallow versions.) SunnyD is a Target exclusive, Chili Lime Mango is exclusive to Kroger affiliated stores and Pop-Tarts Strawberry Frosted is available nationwide.

I’m trying to remember how I ever acquired SunnyD as a kid. (Back in those days, we called it Sunny Delight.) I have no memory of my mom ever buying it for us, so I’m pretty sure this was a drink I enjoyed when I was over at a friend’s house.
I don’t know if it was making up for something I missed out on as a kid or just my love of finding new flavors of candy (if I had a therapist, I’m guessing they’d tell me these things are one and the same), but I was very much looking forward to trying the SunnyD flavor of Peeps.

The SunnyD Peeps are, appropriately, extremely orangey. They hit you with that delightfully artificial smell right when you open the package. SunnyD and Peeps belong together.

I’ve been on the hunt for the Pop-Tarts Frosted Strawberry chicks for a long time. Images of this flavor leaked months ago, and a crossover between Peeps and (what’s in my book) the best overall flavor of Pop-Tarts was instantly at the top of new candy to be on the lookout for.
Unlike the other two Peeps in this lineup, the Pop-Tarts one uses a strawberry-flavored marshmallow base instead of relying on the coating. This means you’re getting strawberry marshmallow and strawberry sugary coating with the fun addition of rainbow sprinkles to evoke that classic frosted Pop-Tart look. (You know exactly what I’m talking about.)

Peeps may have doubled down on that strawberry flavor too much, though. These Peeps remind me much more of the Frosted Strawberry Milkshake variety of Pop-Tarts instead of the classic Frosted Strawberry.

Peeps Chili Lime Mango Peeps aren’t the first time I’ve encountered spicy candy. I was a surprise fan of Skittles Gummies Fuego back in August, so my taste buds were ready for a Peep with a kick.

I’m honestly surprised at how nuanced of a flavor profile they were able to pour into these tiny Peeps. Mango is the overwhelming flavor, but then there’s a touch of lime to cut it right before you experience the heat of the chili flavor at the end of each bite of these chicks.
For a simple candy — just marshmallow and a dusting of sugar — Peeps really delivered something cool ... hot? ... with these Chili Lime Mango fellas.
