‘Regretting You’ wins a lackluster Halloween weekend. Maybe.

No one went to the movies this weekend, but it was still a close race between ‘Regretting You’ and ‘Black Phone 2.’

Hello! Welcome to The Box Office Report for the weekend of Oct. 31-Nov.2, 2025.

1. Regretting You

Weekend gross: $8.1M
Total domestic gross: $27.5M
Last weekend: 2nd
Percent drop: 41

Maybe it was Halloween. Maybe it was a thrilling World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays. Maybe people just weren’t interested in the movies in theaters right now. Whatever it was, people skipped the movies this weekend, sending the box office to its worst weekend since 1993 (not counting the Covid year).

With very little competition and no major new releases this week, Regretting You appears to have taken the No. 1 spot, barely squeaking by Black Phone 2 based on Sunday estimates.

The other good news for Josh Boone? Regretting You has easily passed The New Mutants ($23.9 million) to move up to the No. 2 spot on the director’s career ranking. Of course, there are only three movies on this ranking.

2. Black Phone 2

Weekend gross: $8M
Total domestic gross: $61.5M
Last weekend: 3rd
Percent drop: 38

Black Phone 2 continues to perform in lockstep with its predecessor, while falling a hair behind The Black Phone’s pace after leading it through the previous two weekends. At this point back in 2022, The Black Phone had grossed $62.4 million in North America.
