‘You Can See Everything’ scores a $15M debut over just 855 theaters

The Elizabeth Holmes documentary came in second place to ‘Street Fighter,’ but its per-theater average blew away the competition.

Hello! Welcome to The Box Office Report for the weekend of Oct. 16-18, 2026.

1. Street Fighter

Weekend gross: $31M
Total domestic gross: $31M
Last weekend: New release
Percent drop: NA

The new Street Fighter landed a knockout punch this weekend, grossing $31 million and easily defeating a handful of other new releases. Director Kitao Sakurai’s Street Fighter blew away the franchise’s previous opening weekend marks.

The bar there was low. The first Street Fighter movie opened with $9.5 million in 1994, and Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li could only muster up $4.7 million in 2009. Sakurai’s Street Fighter came very close to beating the 1994 film’s entire $33.4 million domestic haul in a single weekend.

2. You Can See Everything

Weekend gross: $15M
Total domestic gross: $15M
Last weekend: New release
Percent drop: NA

The real story of this weekend, though, was You Can See Everything. The Elizabeth Holmes documentary from directors Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim scored a $15 million debut — while only playing in 855 theaters! The doc averaged $17,544 per theater.

Is the secret to You Can See Everything that it’s playing in limited release and attracting serious moviegoers this weekend? Would the documentary have grossed $62.7 million had it opened in 3,575 theaters like Street Fighter?

3. Other Mommy

Weekend gross: $8.4M
Total domestic gross: $44.9M
Last weekend: 1st
Percent drop: 70

Last weekend’s top film plummeted 70 percent this weekend, with Other Mommy following up its $27.8 million debut with an $8.4 million second weekend. The Jessica Chastain horror film was the only holdover from last weekend’s top five. (Aaron Sorkin’s The Social Reckoning crashed all the way down to No. 13 with just $1.6 million.)

4. Whalefall

Weekend gross: $8M
Total domestic gross: $8M
Last weekend: New release
Percent drop: NA

Welp, I did my part to make Whalefall a success. Despite my glowing review and suggesting that you all go see director Brian Duffield’s adaptation of Daniel Kraus’ novel, Whalefall failed to crack $10 million this weekend. I guess we’ll try again when Imagine Entertainment releases its adaptation of Kraus’ Angel Down.

5. Sense and Sensibility

Weekend gross: $7.3M
Total domestic gross: $7.3M
Last weekend: New release
Percent drop: NA

I know I’m not the target audience, but I had no idea there was a new Sense and Sensibility adaptation coming out. It’s hard to compare the new film, which stars Daisy Edgar-Jones, with director Ang Lee’s 1995 take on the Jane Austen novel. The latest adaptation opened across 2,545 theaters, while Lee’s version never played in more than 1,054 theaters.

Beyond the Top Five

  • Musk: Director Alex Gibney’s Elon Musk documentary is picking up pace, adding $306,702 this weekend as it expanded from four theaters to 472 theaters. But TikTok doesn’t want you to know that. The social media platform has banned the film’s promotional account. I’m thinking it might be a problem that we let the Ellison family buy up unprecedented control of American media and social media platforms ...
