Happy Oscar nominations day! Zazie Beetz and Jack Quaid announced the nominees for the 96th Academy Awards this morning, revealing who made the cut for this year’s Oscars. And — shocker — there were some noticeable snubs.
Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer was the morning’s most prolific nominee, with 13 nominations including honors in the Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor. Poor Things (11), Killers of the Flower Moon (10) and Barbie (8) were all close behind Oppenheimer. (And if we’re going by Barbenheimer rules, the duo scored 21 Oscar nominations.)

The Best Picture slate this year isn’t as audience friendly as we’ve seen in past years. Barbie and Oppenheimer were box office hits, but the other eight nominees in this category didn’t come close to the duo’s theatrical success.
Personally, I would’ve loved to have seen Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse break into this category after Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was snubbed for Best Picture a few years ago.
