This is it. The final edition of Deep SNL Thoughts for SNL Season 50. The show wrapped things up last weekend, so I’m here now to rank the season’s twenty hosts.
Scrolling through all of these hosts, some of these episodes feel like they were a lifetime ago. Between SNL celebrating its milestone 50th season and the presidential election, there was a lot going on over these twenty episodes. Remember the stretch when it felt like Dana Carvey was never going to leave?
Unlike with my Season 49 rankings, there wasn’t an episode this season that I would consider an all-timer. Ryan Gosling’s episode was a talker for weeks — months? — and it was a runaway pick for the No. 1 spot.
