Hey, you got Oreo in my Reese’s Cups

Snackology has your early look at one half of the new Reese’s and Oreo collaboration.

Hey, you got Oreo in my Reese’s Cups

If you’ve followed Snackology for long enough, you know that I love Reese’s Cups. And I love Oreo cookies. So when the two announced last month that they’re teaming up to bring us — wait for it — the Oreo Reese’s Cup and the Reese’s Oreo cookie, it was huge news over at Snackology World Headquarters. (Which is usually just me and occasionally my daughter asking for a bite or sip of whatever I’m tasting.)

“At Reese’s, we’re obsessed with pushing the boundaries of what chocolate and peanut butter can become — and our fans fuel that fire,” Dan Mohnshine, Vice President, U.S. Confection Marketing at The Hershey Company said in a statement. “When we heard the incredible demand for a Reese’s and Oreo mashup, we knew we had to make magic happen. This isn’t just another product launch — it’s two legendary brands coming together to create something absolutely unprecedented that’ll blow minds and taste buds everywhere.”

Count me among the army of Reese’s and Oreo fans who are ready to have our minds and taste buds blown ...

What they cost

Hershey hasn’t disclosed pricing for the Reese’s Oreo Cups, which will come in King Size, Standard Size and Miniature Cups.

My thoughts

As I said before, I’m a big fan of both of the iconic brands involved with this collab. Snackology has reviewed a bunch of Reese’s flavors, even ranking eight different kinds back in March. (For science, of course.) When news broke about this collaboration, I knew that it would be a huge deal for snack fans everywhere.

The Reese’s Oreo Cups are everything you love from both brands. Reeses’s brings the classic peanut butter and milk chocolate. Oreo adds white creme and chocolate cookie crumbs mixed throughout the filling.

Opening the bag of miniatures — with all of them still in their wrappers — was enough to unleash the smell of Reese’s Cups mingled in with the white creme that we’ve seen in other Reese’s releases like the Mallow-Top variety from a few Easters ago.

I’m on record saying that the Reese’s Big Cup is usually my preferred delivery size for a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, but I’ve been known to house a bag of miniatures. Sure, you have to put the work in unwrapping a dozen or three of them, but it’s worth it.

The Reese’s Oreo Cup in miniature size is a great balance of the milk chocolate/white creme outside and the peanut butter/Oreo crumbs inside. Since it only takes one or two bits to eat a Reese’s miniature, every bite is going to have all the parts you love.

If you get the King Size of the Reese’s Oreo Cups, you’ll get four of the standard-size Reese’s Cups. These fellas feel a bit flatter than a miniature cup, but the trade off is you get more of the white creme with Oreo crumbs on the top of your peanut butter cup.

🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪 (5 out of 5 cookies)

If you’re a fan of Reese’s Cups and Oreo cookies, the Reese’s Oreo Cups are a no-brainer, day-one buy. I’d lean toward recommending them as miniature cups, only because you’ll probably feel less guilty eating a couple handfuls of them in that size than you would in finishing off a four-pack of regular-sized Reese’s Cups.

The Reese’s Oreo Cup goes on presale on Aug. 18. You can sign up over at Hershey’s website now to add them to your snack collection when they go on sale.
