Gimme a slice of Apple Pie a la Mode Oreos

Embrace your fall nostalgia with this surprisingly great new Oreo flavor.

Gimme a slice of Apple Pie a la Mode Oreos

We’re months away from March 14, but for Oreo, it’s always Pie Day. After bringing back the fan favorite (and fantastic) Blueberry Pie Oreos earlier this summer, the beloved sandwich cookie is already in a fall mood with Oreo Apple Pie a la Mode cookies.

As Oreo flavors go, Apple Pie a la Mode is a throwback compared to some of the other varieties we’ve gotten in 2025, a seemingly simple take on the classic Oreo when compared to cookies designed to mimic chocolate-covered pretzels or inspired by Selena Gomez.

Should you start stockpiling Apple Pie a la Mode Oreos to bring as Thanksgiving dessert?

What it costs

I found the Apple Pie a la Mode Oreos at Harris Teeter on sale for $4.99.

My thoughts

After opening the package of Apple Pie a la Mode Oreos, I was immediately struck by an apple-cinnamony scent that unlocked some core memory in my brain.

Was it Frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pop-Tarts? No, those would’ve been missing the apple component.

It finally hit me: The old-school apple cinnamon Quaker oatmeal. The kind that had the freeze-dried bits of apple that would come to life when you poured hot water over the contents from those paper packets.

What a throwback.

Visually, Apple Pie a la Mode Oreos aren’t much to look at. The cookies? Beige. The filling? Beige. Despite Oreo noting that this flavor contains “apple pie and vanilla ice cream-flavored creme,” there’s no swirl of flavors or colors like we’ve seen on other recent Oreo releases. These are probably the most boring looking Oreos we’ve gotten in a long time. Even the traditionally Golden Oreo at least mixes it up with white creme between the two beige cookies.

What the Apple Pie a la Mode Oreos lack in visual dynamics, they easily make up for in taste. Biting into these cookies, you’re going to discover both the brightness of the apple element and the warmth of the vanilla. I’m honestly impressed that Nabisco was able to deliver on both those fronts.

If you’re looking for a hit of ice cream flavor in the creme, you might be disappointed. While Oreo mentions specifically on its site that the creme in these cookies is “vanilla ice cream-flavored,” the package boils that down to “vanilla flavor.”

🍪🍪🍪🍪 (4 out of 5 cookies)

As someone who buys way more packages of Oreos than the regular person, I’ll often eat an Oreo or two to gather my thoughts for Snackology and then forget about a package. Between opening the Apple Pie a la Mode Oreos on Friday and writing this review, I returned to the package several times.

The apple pie/vanilla ice cream filling is one of my favorite things in a recent new Oreo release. I need to buy some vanilla ice cream to pile on top of a bowl full of Apple Pie a la Mode Oreos to make good on that “a la mode” promise.
