Thanks to McDonald’s latest sauce, you don’t have to choose between buffalo and ranch
I’m forever Team Blue Cheese, but I’ll allow the marriage of buffalo and ranch in this case.
The ‘John Wick’ spinoff didn’t have the moves to dethrone Disney’s latest live-action cash grab.
Hello! Welcome to The Box Office Report for the weekend of June 6-8, 2025.
Weekend gross: $32.5M
Total domestic gross: $335.8M
Last weekend: 1st
Percent drop: 47
Despite earlier signs of pending doom (and my enthusiastic hope for the trend’s demise), it looks like we’re living in the summer of the live-action remake. The new version of Lilo & Stitch has now captured the No. 1 spot at the box office for all three weekends it’s been in theaters, pretty easily holding off From the World of John Wick: Ballerina to stay in that spot.
Lilo & Stitch will likely vacate the No. 1 spot next weekend when the live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon hits theaters. It’s the season of fresh ideas, folks!
The Lilo & Stitch remake is currently the second highest grossing film in North America in 2025, with its $335.8 million haul trailing only A Minecraft Movie’s $423.6 million.
Weekend gross: $25M
Total domestic gross: $25M
Last weekend: New release
Percent drop: NA
Ballerina — no, I’m not going to keep using its ridiculous full title — underperformed when compared against the trajectory of the John Wick franchise. Each John Wick movie has topped the opening weekend of its predecessor — John Wick with $14.4 million, John Wick: Chapter Two with $30.4 million, John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum with $56.8 million and John Wick: Chapter 4 with $73.8 million.
Do people need a break from the franchise? Is swapping Keanu Reeves out for Ana de Armas a no-go? Was having Len Wiseman as its director a red flag for Ballerina?
