The four-time host and ‘Project Hail Mary’ star appeared on ‘Late Night’
Ryan Gosling has now had back-to-back SNL hosting gigs that became huge talkers due to how he kept breaking. In the case of his Season 49 episode, it was “Beavis and Butt-Head” that wound up making Heidi Gardner laugh. But when Gosling hosted two episodes ago, it felt like the entire episode was geared around making Gosling break ... especially “Passing Notes” with Ashley Padilla.
During a visit to Late Night on Wednesday, Seth Meyers offered his praise for the “Passing Notes” to the Project Hail Mary star.
“It was very novel. I got to say, watching at home, I was deeply jealous. I was like, ‘That's a really great idea,’” Meyers told Gosling. “And that’s the highest praise I can pay the show after I leave, it is anytime it makes me feel jealous.”
Gosling credited Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell for the sketch.

Gosling and Meyers also discussed the first time Gosling did a “Close Encounter” sketch with Kate McKinnon, a reminder that even before “Beavis and Butt-Head” took a Gosling-hosted episode to another level, he had a long history of standout SNL sketches.
