It’s impossible to walk down the aisles at the grocery store without seeing that that nearly every food category has joined the celebration of America’s 250th birthday. The only exceptions seem to be brands that are patriotically [celebrating the World Cup](https://www.theomnicosm.com/tag/world-cup/) ... or nonpatriotically celebrating [the 30th anniversary of Pokémon](https://www.theomnicosm.com/tag/pokemon/).

Welch’s is in the first group, releasing this month a new, limited-edition flavor in its sparkling beverage lineup this month: **Welch’s Sparkling Blueberry**.

“With our new limited-edition Sparkling Blueberry flavor and festive packaging, we wanted to create something elevated and easy to serve, fun to share, and special for the whole family to enjoy together,” Andrew Hartshorn, chief brand and innovation officer at Welch’s, [said in the company’s announcement](https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/welchs-launches-new-limited-edition-sparkling-blueberry-in-celebration-of-americas-250th-anniversary-302770398.html?ref=theomnicosm.com). “As a company proudly owned by over 600 American family farmers, introducing this seasonal lineup during America’s 250th anniversary felt especially meaningful.”

Sparkling Blueberry joins Sparkling Strawberry and Sparkling White Grape, giving Welch’s the perfect red-white-and-blue combo.

### The thoughts

Sparkling grape juice played a big role in our family when my siblings and I were younger. We’d always have a bottle on hand during the holidays to open while we were sitting around the kitchen table playing Skip-Bo, Phase 10 or another card game that was likely to devolve into my youngest brother doing whatever he could to derail my chances of winning.

While sparkling grape juice was eventually replaced by its more mature sibling, wine, along with beer, the classy beverage remains a part of our core memories.

This taste test was the third time our daughter has had sparkling grape juice. (We bought a few bottles to really sell our fake New Year’s Eve countdown that we did at like 8:30 p.m.) If the approval of a 4-year-old who already has a taste for Poppi matters to you, she confirms that she enjoyed Sparkling Blueberry.
