For me, there’s a trio of candy bars that would easily make it onto that mountainside (which I assume, in this scenario, is made of chocolate). There’s Snickers, representing caramel, nougat and peanuts. There’s Milky Way, which is Snickers without the peanuts. And then there’s Twix, which swaps out the nougat and peanuts for a cookie bar. All three are covered in milk chocolate. If you’ve followed my seasonal roundups, you know that I’m a big fan of Twix. It doesn’t matter [if the nougat is a spooky green](https://www.theomnicosm.com/ghoulish-spooky-shriek-y-its-a-halloween-candy-roundup/), or if the Twix itself is in the shape of [a snowman](https://www.theomnicosm.com/santa-came-early-with-this-christmas-candy-roundup/) or [a heart](https://www.theomnicosm.com/snackology-valentines-day-candy-roundup/), I’m fully ready to eat them. But is a Twix still a Twix if it doesn’t have one of the simple three elements that come together to make it worthy of placement on our candy bar Mount Rushmore? [Update your settings](https://www.theomnicosm.com/#/portal/account/plans) to add **Popculturology** to your inbox. ### The thoughts Twix Bits are finally hitting stores, months after Mars revealed they were on the way last fall. “The newest addition to the portfolio, offering fans a bite-sized twist on the brand’s iconic bars,” [Mars announced in October](https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/mars-unwraps-sweet-sour-and-swicy-innovations-for-2026-302583257.html?ref=theomnicosm.com). “Featuring the classic cookie center with caramel essence and covered in milk chocolate, Twix Bits are the perfect poppable treat for Twix fans to enjoy on-the-go anywhere.” Did you catch the big change in that description? Instead of a layer of caramel, Twix Bits featuring a cookie center with “caramel essence.” Mmmmm, essence ... Since finding an end cap of Twix Bits at my grocery store last week, I’ve been trying to nail down what that “caramel essence” reminds me of. At their core, Twix Bits are very reminiscent of Whoppers, a crunchy sphere covered with milk chocolate. But they smell like ... toffee? A very artificial caramel? I think people are going to be confused when they pick up a bag of Twix Bits and expect a traditional Twix but in the shape of a tiny candy globe. (It doesn’t help that Mars once sold Twix *Bites*, which actually were tiny Twix bars featuring both the cookie and caramel layers.) The texture of a Twix Bit is super satisfying, but the taste misses the mark.
