For this edition of **Quick Bites**, I’m going back to the world of sour candy — yes, [that’s apparently all I eat these days](https://www.theomnicosm.com/i-raided-targets-sour-patch-kids-stock-for-this-candy-roundup/) — because Mars is bring **Skittles Sour Wild Berry** back this year. “Prepare your face for flavor fireworks with Skittles Sour Wild Berry Chewy Candy! This tongue-tingling treat packs a fruity punch that’ll make your taste buds do the electric slide, featuring a sour squad of berry punch, strawberry, melon berry, wild cherry and raspberry flavors that basically throw a party in your mouth,” [Skittles writes about the latest edition to its lineup](https://www.skittles.com/products/fruity/skittles-sour-wild-berry-grab-go-size-candy-bag-72-oz-sour?ref=theomnicosm.com). “These rainbow-colored tart candies turn boring moments into ‘remember when’ moments — perfect for movie nights when you need something to do with your hands besides text, or road trips when the scenery gets, well, scenic.” I’m old enough to remember when Sour Skittles first debuted, finding them in a gas station candy aisle while we were on a family vacation over a quarter century ago. And while the Wild Berry variation of the sour candy has gone under my radar, it’s actually not new. Skittles Sour Wild Berry [reportedly debuted](https://www.allrecipes.com/skittles-sour-wild-berry-wicked-11833071?ref=theomnicosm.com) as a Dollar General exclusive in 2019 before returning as a promotional candy for *Wicked: For Good* last year. But you’ll note a key difference there — Skittles Shriekers are *sour* Skittles, not *Sour* Skittles. Unlike both official Sour Skittles lineups, Skittles Shriekers aren’t covered in citric acid, making them much easier to eat by the handful. But that coating is what really seals the Sour Skittles experience. How committed are you to consuming an entire bag? Enough to strip away the side of your tongue? Enough to eat a hole in your cheek?
