You don’t become the king of premium cookies without innovating, which is why you can now find **Pepperidge Farm Sourdough Cookies** in the cookie aisle. “Sourdough is having a moment, and we saw an opportunity to bring it to the cookie aisle in a completely new way,” Ama Auwarter, vice president of Pepperidge Farm Cookies & Bakery, said in the company’s announcement. “Our first-of-its-kind Sourdough Cookies combine real sourdough with soft and chewy textures and bakery-inspired flavors for a uniquely Pepperidge Farm take on the trend.” Pepperidge Farm Sourdough Cookies made their debut at the end of October, with three flavors at launch: Dark Chocolate Sourdough with Brown Butter Cookies, Cinnamon Sugar Sourdough with Vanilla Bean Cookies and White Chocolate Sourdough with Raspberry Cookies. (Is there a more American cookie than chocolate chip? I’d accept Oreo, but I don’t think we’re going to get a Pepperidge Farm/Oreo collab.) I know how sourdough bread works, but I wasn’t quite sure how a sourdough cookie would work. The sourdough tang pops through, complementing the dark chocolate. They very much felt like the star foundation of this Pepperidge Farm lineup.
