A little treat for a job well done, I guess. So what I’m going to say next will probably shock you. I’ve had maybe one McDonald’s Apple Pie in my entire life. I know! I’m sorry. Growing up, we’d either buy the McDonaldland cookies or an ice cream cone. This was before the introduction of the McFlurry, and once that dessert item was on the menu, it’s been my go-to at McDonald’s for decades now. People are *super* excited that McDonald’s is bringing back the **Fried Apple Pie**, though. [When the chain announced](https://corporate.mcdonalds.com/corpmcd/our-stories/article/mcdonalds-fried-apple-pie-returns.html?ref=theomnicosm.com) that “the OG Fried Apple Pie is back at participating restaurants nationwide for a limited time,” I could sense that it was a big deal. The Fried Apple Pie disappeared from menus in 1992, with McDonald’s making the switch to baking them to “appeal to customer preferences and dining trends.” But now the Fried Apple Pie is back. And it’s very good. My Fried Apple Pie arrived still hot in its adorable cardboard sleeve. The pastry crust was crackly and flaky. The apple filling was just the right temperature, hot enough to give me a moment of pause but tasty enough to challenge me to keep eating. I would like to eat another Fried Apple Pie.
