The Super Mario Galaxy Movie *Weekend gross: *$130.9M** *Total domestic gross: *$190.1M** *Last weekend: *New release** *Percent drop: *NA** There was never any doubt that *The Super Mario Galaxy Movie* was going to open with absolutely massive box office numbers. Since opening on Wednesday, the animated sequel has racked up $190.1 million in North America, with $139.9 million of the haul coming over the traditional Friday-to-Sunday weekend. Great numbers, but they’re actually a shade behind the haul of *The Super Mario Bros. Movie* back in 2023\. Project Hail Mary *Weekend gross: *$30.7M** *Total domestic gross: *$217.2M** *Last weekend: *1st** *Percent drop: *43** Well, this is a pleasant surprise. Despite *The Super Mario Galaxy Movie* earning a whopping $190.1 million over the five-day Easter weekend, *Project Hail Mary* still holds the top spot among movies released in North America in 2026. Thanks to a fantastic $30.7 million third weekend, the **Ryan Gosling** adaptation easily flew past the $200 million mark. Some crazy box office machinations would have to happen to keep the second *Super Mario* movie from passing *Project Hail Mary* over the next weekend or two, but for now, directors **Phil Lord** and **Christopher Miller** have the biggest hit of the year. The Drama *Weekend gross: *$14.4M** *Total domestic gross: *$14.4M** *Last weekend: *3rd** *Percent drop: *NA** I’m not sure what the appropriate comparison would be for *The Drama*’s opening weekend among **Zendaya** films. It’s obviously not the *Spider-Man* or *Dune* movies. Maybe *Challengers*? **Zendaya**’s tennis movie grossed $15 million over its opening weekend back in 2024. ## 4\. Hoppers *Weekend gross: *$5.8M** *Total domestic gross: *$149.6M** *Last weekend: *2nd** *Percent drop: *52** *Hoppers* holds onto its grasp of the top five for a fifth straight weekend, falling to No. 4 with $5.8 million. Pixar’s latest film already passed *The Good Dinosaur* ($123.1 million) going into last weekend, and now *Hoppers* has both *Cars 3* ($152.9 million) and *Elemental* ($154.4 million) within its targets for the upcoming week.
