Hello! Welcome to **The** **Box Office Report** for the weekend of April 10-12, 2026\.

## 1\. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

*Weekend gross: *$69M**
*Total domestic gross: *$308.1M**
*Last weekend: *1st**
*Percent drop: *48**

It shouldn’t be a surprise that *The Super Mario Galaxy Movie* is critic proof, but it’s another thing to actually see that in action. After easily scoring 2026’s biggest three-day opening weekend with $131.7 million, the *Mario* sequel returned with a $69 million second weekend. That’s not just the best second weekend for the year — it’s the third biggest weekend for 2026, falling between *Project Hail Mary*’s $80.5 million debut and *Scream 7*’s $63.6 million opening.

*The Super Mario Galaxy Movie* is also the first movie this year to crack $300 million. It took the animated film 12 days to reach that milestone, one day longer than it took *The Super Mario Bros. Movie* in 2023\. The first *Mario* movie powered up with a $92.3 million second weekend to hit $353.2 million through this same point. *The Super Mario Bros. Movie* would finish with $574.9 million, which currently makes it the 17th biggest domestic hit ever.

## 2\. Project Hail Mary

*Weekend gross: *$24.6M**
*Total domestic gross: *$256.7M**
*Last weekend: *2nd**
*Percent drop: *23**

*Project Hail Mary* has officially dropped to No. 2 on the 2026 domestic box office chart, slipping behind *The Super Mario Galaxy Movie*. That’s not a shocker, but it’s wild to see how much of a fight *Project Hail Mary* continues to put up. The film slipped just 23 percent between its third and fourth weekends in theaters and has an excellent shot at crossing $300 million itself within the next few weeks.

**Ryan Gosling** has always been a hit with critics, but he’s rarely had the box office receipts to back up that reputation. Sure, *Barbie* grossed a whopping $636.2 million North America, but how much of that can be attributed to Gosling himself? It’s easy to miss that Gosling’s career box office numbers outside of *Barbie* aren’t all that impressive. People love his press tours and *SNL* appearances, but those moments didn’t turn films like *La La Land* ($151.1 million), *Blade Runner 2049* ($92.1 million), *The Fall Guy* ($92.9 million) or *The Nice Guys* ($36.3 million) into runaway commercial hits.

Disney has to be thrilled that Gosling has finally cracked the secret to box office success as it lines up with *Star Wars: Starfighter* on the horizon for 2027.

## 3\. The Drama

*Weekend gross: *$8.7M**
*Total domestic gross: *$30.8M**
*Last weekend: *3rd**
*Percent drop: *39**

Not a bad second-weekend drop for *The Drama*. I wasn’t sure if the mixed reaction to the film — and its twist — would have tanked it, but the **Zendaya**/**Robert Pattinson** film held onto the No. 3 slot with just a 39 percent dip.

## 4\. You, Me & Tuscany

*Weekend gross: *$8M**
*Total domestic gross: *$8M**
*Last weekend: *New release**
*Percent drop: *NA**

I can’t believe they did a fancy remake of *You, Me and Dupree*. I guess **Anthony Russo** and **Joe Russo** are too busy with *Avengers: Doomsday* and *Avengers: Secret Wars* to have come back to direct this one too.

## 5\. Hoppers

*Weekend gross: *$4.1M**
*Total domestic gross: *$157.1M**
*Last weekend: *4th**
*Percent drop: *30**

After taking a 52 percent fall last week, *Hoppers* course corrected and got back to a weekend-to-weekend drop in the 30s. With a $4.1 million sixth weekend, the latest Pixar film jumped past *Elemental* ($154.4 million) and is within passing distance of *A Bug’s Life* ($162.8 million) on the studio’s all-time domestic box office chart.

*Box office numbers via The Numbers and Box Office Mojo based on Sunday estimates.*
