Hello! Welcome to **The** **Box Office Report** for the weekend of Aug. 21-23, 2026.

## 1\. Spider-Man: Brand New Day

*Weekend gross: *$39M**
*Total domestic gross: *$854.9M**
*Last weekend: *1st**
*Percent drop: *45**

We’re in the endgame, folks. The *Avengers: Endgam*e territory, that is. *Spider-Man: Brand New Day* added an estimated $39 million to its domestic haul this weekend, putting the runaway phenomenon less than $4 million away from passing the Infinity Saga finale ($858.4 million) to claim the No. 2 spot on the all-time North American chart.

From there, *Brand New Day* will only have *Star Wars: The Force Awakens* left between it and not only the No. 1 spot but also the feat of becoming the first film to gross $1 billion in North America. Tracking-wise, the latest Spider-Man film continues to outperform *The Force Awakens* on a weekend-to-weekend basis, with the seventh *Star Wars* film clocking in at $812.7 million after its fourth weekend.

## 2\. Insidious: Out of the Further

*Weekend gross: *$25.3M**
*Total domestic gross: *$25.3M**
*Last weekend: *New release**
*Percent drop: *NA**

The latest *Insidious* film saw an opening weekend dip compared to several of its predecessors. *Insidious: Out of the Further*’s $25.3 million debut trails the first weekends of 2023’s *Insidious: The Red Door* ($33 million), 2018’s *Insidious: The Last Key* ($29.6 million) and 2013’s *Insidious Chapter 2* ($40.3 million). *Out of the Further* does earn the honor of becoming the first movie to crack into the top two since *Spider-Man: Brand New Day* debuted three weekends ago.

## 3\. The Odyssey

*Weekend gross: *$19.5M**
*Total domestic gross: *$539.1M**
*Last weekend: *2nd**
*Percent drop: *17**

For the first time since it debuted with $123.5 million five weekends ago, *The Odyssey* has dropped out of the top two spots. I’m sure **Christopher Nolan** and the folks over at Universal are fine with that, though, knowing that *The Odyssey* has become the director’s biggest domestic hit, passing *The Dark Knight*’s $536.6 million North American haul.

## 4\. PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie

*Weekend gross: *$9.1M**
*Total domestic gross: *$35.4M**
*Last weekend: *4th**
*Percent drop: *55**

Reviewing the box office performance of *PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie* will never not feel ridiculous. This franchise exists to sell new toys. Any money it makes from selling movie tickets it sells is just extra cash.

## 5\. The End of Oak Street

*Weekend gross: *$9M**
*Total domestic gross: *$38M**
*Last weekend: *3rd**
*Percent drop: *57**

I’m surprised that *The End of Oak Street* saw a 57 percent weekend-to-weekend drop. [The word-of-mouth and buzz](https://www.theomnicosm.com/popculturology-newsletter-end-of-oak-street/) around the film seemed super positive, and I didn’t expect to see it fall behind *PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie*.
