Hello! Welcome to **The** **Box Office Report** for the weekend of June 12-14, 2026.

## 1\. Disclosure Day

*Weekend gross: *$44M**
*Total domestic gross: *$44M**
*Last weekend: *New release**
*Percent drop: *NA**

In a world of blockbusters that once routinely crushed the $100 million mark, it’s easy for a $44 million opening weekend to feel like a letdown. It’s been almost two decades since a **Steven Spielberg** film opened at that level, though, with *Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull*’s $100.1 million debut being the director’s first, last and only film to notch that accomplishment.

*Disclosure Day* is Spielberg’s biggest opening weekend since *Crystal Skull*, passing the $41.8 million grossed by *Ready Player One* in 2018.

## 2\. Obsession

*Weekend gross: *$19M**
*Total domestic gross: *$188.4M**
*Last weekend: *4th**
*Percent drop: *25**

*Obsession* continues its absolutely absurd box office performance. After opening with $17.2 million, the horror film has scored four straight weekends that are *higher* than its debut haul. The film saw weekend-to-weekend *increases* between its first and second weekends and then its second and third weekends. *Obsession*’s two recent weekend-to-weekend drops were just 7 percent and 25 percent.

The **Curry Barker** film will easily pass the $200 million mark in North America by this time next week.

## 3\. Scary Movie

*Weekend gross: *$14.5M**
*Total domestic gross: *$84.6M**
*Last weekend: *1st**
*Percent drop: *73**

I had a hunch that we’d see *Scary Movie* take a tumble in its second weekend. The franchise-record $54.3 million that the sixth film in the series opened with felt hollow. I was right.

The confusingly named *Scary Movie* (seriously, stop reusing titles if you’re not rebooting a franchise) followed up that franchise-record debut with the biggest drop between the first and second weekends for a *Scary Movie* film. While *Scary Movie 2* (53 percent), *Scary Movie 3* (58 percent), *Scary Movie 4* (58 percent) and *Scary Movie V* (57 percent) all had significant first-to-second-weekends drops, the latest *Scary Movie* blew those numbers away.

## 4\. Backrooms

*Weekend gross: *$11.3M**
*Total domestic gross: *$160M**
*Last weekend: *3rd**
*Percent drop: *57**

Sure, *Backrooms*’s $160 million domestic haul is great, but more than half of that number came via the film’s first weekend. The **Kane Parsons** film has fallen 68 percent and 57 percent over the two weekends since its opening, falling to fourth place.

That big $81.4 million debut gave *Backrooms* some fantastic headlines, but I don’t know if I’d take that over *Obsession*’s continued defiance of box office expectations despite never having a No. 1 weekend of its own.

## 5\. Masters of the Universe

*Weekend gross: *$8.7M**
*Total domestic gross: *$46.7M**
*Last weekend: *2nd**
*Percent drop: *71**

Amazon MGM Studios might be pretending that it’s pleased with *Masters of the Universe*’s box office performance, but now that the film has fallen 71 percent after a disappointing $29.4 million opening weekend, I can’t imagine director **Travis Knight** will have a shot at expanding the story with a sequel.
