Sometimes there’s a bit of branding that’s so perfect, it feels like it can’t be right. When Nabisco first released S’mores Oreo cookies back in 2015, anyone and everyone who enjoyed them asked the obvious question: *Why aren’t these Oreos called S’mOreos?*

It was a no-brainer. S’mores + Oreos = S’mOreos.

Nabisco saw the light when they brought **S’mOreo** cookies back in 2023, finally giving one of its most popular limited flavors the name it always deserved.

(Look, I get that a portmanteau doesn’t always work in this situation. There’s a reason Wegmans very firmly sticks with [W O’s as the name of their Oreo knockoffs](https://www.wegmans.com/shop/product/51259-W-Os-Original-Chocolate-Sandwich-Creme-Cookies?ref=theomnicosm.com). No one wants to buy a package of Woreos.)

S’mOreos are returning to shelves this spring. (They were briefly available online last week before almost immediately selling out.) Despite an April 7 release date, I was surprised to find them waiting for me during our weekly grocery trip on Friday. You better believe I put a package of them in our cart despite Caitlin asking, *Don’t we already have four packs of Oreos open?* It’s for science. For the people.

Before we get into S’mOreos, I wanted to talk about **Brain Slop**. Yes, there’s a new newsletter at **The Omnicosm**, joining **Popculturology** and **Snackology**. **Brain Slop** is a weekly newsletter, hitting your inbox on Sunday, that’s full of stories about tech, space, dinosaurs, sports and more. The first edition kicked things off with a duo of killer whales who are hunting down great white sharks to eat their livers.

### Where I found it

My **Harris Teeter** has S’mOreos on their usual Oreo display.

### What I paid

A 10.68 oz. package of S’mOreos was **$4.99**, on sale from $5.79.

### My thoughts

While many new Oreo flavors fall squarely into the gimmick category (which, I love over here at **Snackology**), S’mOreos aren’t a gimmick. Every bit of these cookies make sense.

“These sweet treats feature two scrumptious layers of flavored creme, one marshmallow and one chocolate, sandwiched between two graham-flavored wafer cookies, making them a wonderful summertime treat,” [the Nabisco copywriters glowingly write](https://www.oreo.com/products/oreo-smoreo-sandwich-cookies-limited-edition?Size=2+Pack&ref=theomnicosm.com) on the Oreo website.

There’s nothing about a S’mOreo that doesn’t make sense. A s’more is three things: Graham cracker, chocolate bar and marshmallow. A Sm’Oreo nails all three of those very important elements.

Check out those Oreo layers. Just like a real s’more.

Speaking of a real s’more, you know what we need to try? Let’s make an actual s’more with two S’mOreo cookies. Once again, everything I do here at **Snackology** is for science.

### Final verdict: BUY

There are a few Oreo varieties that should be available year round. The classic. Double Stuf. Birthday cake. Peanut butter. The S’mOreo isn’t part of that group, once again being released as a limited edition for 2025\. But these cookies have definitely earned **Snackology Classics** status.
