This article was originally published on March 10, 2013.* Welcome to Edition No. 16 of*Sunday Morning Live*, **Popculturology**'s look at the latest episode of *Saturday Night Live*. All of your questions about the **Justin Timberlake**\-hosted episode will be answered after the jump. ### How'd Timberlake do? "How'd Timberlake do?" Not to be harsh, but that's a dumb question, *Sunday Morning Live*. With this being the multihypenate's fifth time hosting *SNL*, we all knew that Timberlake would deliver a show that would stand as the best so far of Season 38\. He didn't disappoint. In his monologue, Timberlake even acknowledged the fact that with every time he's hosted *SNL*, the hype has gotten bigger and bigger, remarking that there was the possibility he would "let everyone down thanks to incredibly high expectations. Thanks, Internet." Thankfully, he didn't let us down. The bulk of Timberlake's monologue was devoted to celebrating his entrance into *SNL*'s prestigious Five-Timers Club, the group of celebrities who have hosted the show at least five times (or, in **Paul Simon**'s case, hosted and performed). With **Steve Martin** as his guide, Timberlake was served drinks by **Dan Aykroyd** (just the bartender since he's only hosted once), was confused by **Chevy Chase**'s relationship with the show ("Are you guys friends or not?" During the week leading up to this episode, there had been reports of the Lonely Island guys being seen around *SNL*, but the show decided to shake things up for Timberlake this time. Instead of having his and **Andy Samberg**'s *Dick in a Box* characters appear in another Digital Short, they were featured as contestants on the game show *It's a Date*. Their opponents for **Vanessa Bayer**'s character? Moynihan's regular guy ... and Two Wild and Crazy Guys, Aykroyd and Martin themselves. I don't know where to even begin when explaining the awesomeness of this sketch. It's a Date took everything we love about the *Dick in a Box* characters and delivered it in quick bursts of genius. When asked how their date with Bayer's character would go, Timberlake closed out their singing response with, "Both of us railing on your butt. Romance." Thanks to these guys, we now know that "Girls can’t get pregnant in the summertime. That’s a known fact." **\[SKETCH NOT AVAILABLE\]** It wouldn't be a Timberlake-hosted *SNL* without seeing the actor/singer in a ridiculous costume while modifying a bunch of popular songs to promote his character's cause. In the tradition of Omeletteville and Homelessville, Timberlake brought us on down to Veganville. I'm going to start using the line "Check it, carne asada." ### Did Timberlake break out any new stuff? To kick off the show, *SNL* had Timberlake play **Elton John** hired by Venezuela to perform at **Hugo Chavez**'s funeral. With the disclaimer that "Everything in this song is true," Timberlake and *SNL* tore into almost every ridiculous thing Chavez ever did, all to the tune of Candle in the Wind. Like with the Veganville sketch, the cold open isn't available online. At about 12:30 a.m., *SNL* took a turn toward the obscene, running sketches about **Caligula**, dating a girl with a penis and pornstars peddling champagne. *The Tales of Sober Caligula* focused on Caligula attempting to step away from his days as an alcoholic and a sex addict ... but that cute sex pig makes it so difficult ... I loved *Maine Justice* when they did it for **Jamie Foxx**'s episode, but I don't think *SNL* focused enough on the ridiculous concept of the sketch for Timberlake's episode. Part of the fun the last time was watching the straight man try to figure out how he wound up in this bizarre Louisiana-esque town in Maine. Samberg played the straight man in this sketch, but didn't really have much to do. I found it odd that Samberg played this part while the majority of the *SNL* cast that wasn't Moynihan or Hader disappeared this episode. ### Anything else worth talking about this episode? It's not often that **Bill Hader**'s Stefon shows up for *Weekend Update* and isn't the highlight of an episode of *SNL*, but with Timberlake dominating the episode, Stefon's latest bout of advice is just one small part of a great show. Stefon's pursuit of **Seth Meyers** continued this weekend, with his response to Seth telling him that he was "taking my serious girlfriend to Mexico" for spring break being "To kill her?" This one was another callback to Foxx's episode. Bayer and **Cecily Strong** played two former pornstars trying to make a few bucks by horribly promoting a product, this time choosing Moet and Chandon Champagne. *SNL* saved this one for last, and I'm sure lines like "I got banged into a sink hole. But a mole person banged me back up" and "Magnum cum loudly" played a big part in that. ### So no Digital Short this week. Any other good shorts and commercials? "100% effective at getting that swag on." Enough said. Another entry in sketches that *SNL* had to wait to air until the end of the episode due to their raciness, Timberlake, **Nasim Pedrad** and **Keenan Thompson** starred in a trailer for a fake romantic comedy called *She's Got a D!%k*. I don't really have to explain the premise of this one, do I? ### Any other cool guests? **\[SKETCH NOT AVAILABLE\]** Despite the fact that Timberlake will be on *Late Night with Jimmy Fallon* every night this upcoming week, **Jimmy Fallon** didn't appear in Timberlake's episode of *SNL*. **Jay-Z**, however, did find time to swing by. ****Deep SNL Thoughts** is written and produced by ****Bill Kuchman**.
