In the short life of **Snackology**, I haven’t reviewed many new flavors of Pop-Tarts. I’m waiting for the Girl Scout Cookies flavors to finally hit stores, but in the meantime, I found the new **Frosted** **Lemon Blueberry Crumble** variety.

It’s hard for a new flavor of Pop-Tart to really, really capture my attention. After growing up with the Unfrosted Strawberry flavor before moving on to Frosted Strawberry, I moved on to S’mores and way too many boxes of Hot Fudge Sundae Pop-Tarts during college. Over the past few years, I’ve excitedly bought the Eggo Waffles Pop-Tarts ... only to be disappointed by gimmicky flavors like that. (I gave Frosted Marshmallow Hot Cocoa [a pass back in October](https://www.theomnicosm.com/toast-or-roast-the-frosted-marshmallow-hot-cocoa-pop-tarts/).)

I saw some pretty positive buzz around Lemon Blueberry Crumble online, which made them a no-brainer purchase for me when I discovered that they were available on Target’s website ...

### Where I found it

So, yeah, these were on **Target**’s website.

### What I paid

The standard box of four two-packs of Pop-Tarts was $2.79.

### My thoughts

Before I was even able to take a bite of the Lemon Blueberry Crumble Pop-Tarts, the smell alerted me that something was amiss. Something was off with this flavor.

As I do with food for **Snackology**, I arranged these Pop-Tarts for some photos. They had a nice crumble. The Pop-Tart pastry itself was much more pastry-ish than your standard fruit-filled Pop-Tart. The blueberry filling looked good.

These were definitely Kellogg’s attempt at creating an elevated Pop-Tart.

But, still, something was off.

As I brought half a Pop-Tart up to my mouth, the smell hit me again. It was too ... clean? Too floral?

I offered a bit to Caitlin without telling her what I thought about the Lemon Blueberry Pop-Tart.

“It tastes like a cleaning product,” she instantly said. “It tastes like a bad Yankee Candle.”

Yeah, that was it. The Lemon Blueberry Crumble Pop-Tart tastes like a cleaning product. Maybe that’s something you look for in a Pop-Tart, but it’s definitely not my ideal version of the breakfast pastry. (My ideal version is the S’mores flavor, because *I’m an adult*.)

### Final verdict: PASS

Look, if something tastes like a cleaning product, I’m definitely not going to recommend it to you. In a world of a billion Pop-Tart flavors — Frosted Strawberry! S’mores! Wild Berry! Hot Fudge Sundae! — I’m never going to tell you to buy a flavor that isn’t worth your time or your taste buds. Pass this one straight into the Sun.
