It’s been a huge few months in the world of frozen fast-food desserts. Over here at **Snackology**, I’ve purchased nine of Wendy’s new Frosty Swirls and Frosty Fusions for official research (and a few extra since then for additional examination). As we hit summer, McDonald’s has now stepped up with their own new offering:

The **Hershey’s S’mores McFlurry**.

This is a big deal in 2025\. When the McFlurry went nationwide in the late 1990s, you could get one in a bunch of flavors. M&Ms. Oreo. Heath. Butterfinger. With the exception of limited edition and seasonal flavors — [Kit Kat Banana Split](https://www.theomnicosm.com/did-i-go-bananas-for-mcdonalds-kit-kat-banana-split-mcflurry/) and [Shamrock](https://www.theomnicosm.com/snackology-template-s/), for example — McFlurry comes in only the M&M and Oreo flavors these days.

But those are great flavors! I love an M&M McFlurry. It was my go-to flavor when McFlurrys launched, and it’s still my go-to flavor these days.

"Just for the summer, do s’mores in McFlurry form,” [McDonald’s teases on its description](https://www.mcdonalds.com/us/en-us/product/hersheys-smores-mcflurry.html?ref=theomnicosm.com) of the S’mores McFlurry. Is this new McFlurry flavor the one I’m going to want to bring to the campfires I’m *totally* going to be sitting around this summer?

### Where I found it

If you’re buying your McFlurrys anywhere besides **McDonald’s**, you might want to reexamine your life choices.

### What it costs

A regular-sized S’mores McFlurry was **$3.99**.

### My thoughts

Oh boy, this is a good one. My hopes were high when I saw that a S’mores McFlurry was coming out this summer. It’s kind of a no-brainer when it comes to a dessert like this one. S’mores ice cream has been a thing for years now (I remember joking with my friends that Friendly’s needed to come out with that flavor back when we’d hang out there in high school), and McDonald’s got this one right.

A s’more is obviously three core elements: The graham crackers, the chocolate and the marshmallows. The S’mores McFlurry brings all of those elements into the mix, not skimping or cheating on how they do it.

You can see the Hershey’s chocolate and graham cracker crumbs. My favorite part, though, is the tiny marshmallows that McDonald’s chose for this McFlurry. They easily could’ve gone with marshmallow sauce, but these marshmallows elevate the S’mores McFlurry. You know those little marshmallows that you’d eat from hot cocoa mix when you were a kid instead of being patient and waiting to enjoy them after everything was hot and mixed together?

Those are the marshmallows that McDonald’s went with for the S’mores McFlurry. They’re great. The perfect companion to the chocolate bits and graham cracker crumbs.

### Final verdict: BUY

The Hershey’s S’mores McFlurry gets an enthusiastic endorsement from me. It brings something new to the classic fast-food dessert, scratching a craving that isn’t addressed by the currently available McFlurry flavors. I usually get a mini McFlurry for these **Snackology** reviews, but that option wasn’t available when I went to order the S’mores McFlurry — and I’m happy to have gone home with the regular size.

This flavor should be a permanent McFlurry variety.

But, McDonald’s, I’m begging you — BEGGING YOU — to go back to the original McFlurry cups, lids and spoons. Without them, it’s chaos. I went into my McDonald’s when I ordered my S’mores McFlurry, and I watched vanilla ice cream get poured into a McFlurry cup, saw the chocolate, graham crackers and marshmallows get spooned on top ... and then not get mixed.

It’s a McFlurry. You gotta McFlurry it — something that seems to be getting skipped now that there isn’t the built-in McFlurry spoon. (This step is getting passed over at Wendy’s too with their new offerings.) When I asked the server if it was supposed to be mixed, she went over to the McFlurry station, got a McFlurry spoon and McFlurry’d it by hand.

I get the new cups and elimination of the McFlurry spoons are supposed to help the environment, but they’re not working. Let’s not let the McFlurrys themselves suffer because of them.
