- Description: Reese’s has delivered scientific breakthrough after scientific breakthrough when it comes to putting other foods inside Reese’s cups.

I love that the scientists over at Reese’s have spent the past decade pushing the boundaries of what they could shove inside a Reese’s cup. Reese’s Pieces? Do it. Potato chips? Go for it. Pretzels? How had we not already thought of that. Reese’s Puffs? I like you, but you’re crazy.

While I think they pretty much perfected this art when they put Reese’s Pieces inside a Reese’s cup (can’t go wrong with that texture combo), Reese’s is still hard at work finding new pairings. For Christmas this year, they’re rolling out **Reese’s Sugar Cookie Peanut Butter Cups**.

As I mentioned in [my review of Skittles Pop’d](https://www.theomnicosm.com/popping-in-with-skittles-popd), I made two trips to Target a few weekends ago. The Sugar Cookie Reese’s were the only new find I made in the Christmas section during my first trip. (I did pick up a few bags of Hersey’s Peppermint Bark Bells since they’re an S-Tier Christmas candy that sells out very quickly.)

Did the Sugar Cookie Reese’s cups live up to the high standards of the Reese’s cups that have come before them?

### Where I found it

Folks, if you haven’t picked up on it yet, I’m at **Target** a lot.

### What I paid

A 9.9 oz. bag cost **$4.69**.

Oooo, shiny.

### My thoughts

I wish I had found the Big Cup version of these.

We’re gonna right to the chase here. Reese’s line of stuffed peanut butter cups works best when you’re consuming them in Big Cup format. While a Big Cup might be too much for your traditional Reese’s Cup (the peanut butter-to-chocolate ratio is better in smaller formats), they’re the perfect vessel to add something to the peanut butter filling. I love a Reese’s Big Cup filled with Reese’s Pieces.

In the miniature size, the Sugar Cookie bites get lost in the peanut butter. Not only are they the same browny-beige, they’re not strong enough to stand out against the classic Reese’s peanut butter filling. They’re definitely a bit crunchier than a normal Reese’s cup, but you can accomplish that with more exciting add-ins like potato chips.

### Final verdict: SKIP

It pains me to tell you to skip the latest entry in this prestigious line of candy innovation, but the Sugar Cookie Reese’s cups aren’t worth the buy. Not in miniature form, at least. Now if you can find them in Big Cup size, you’d have my attention …
